2012 CLS63 Aftermarket Exhaust

Are there any available yet? Has anyone gone the custom route yet?

I'd love to hear this engine breath a little more than the stock setup allows.

Haters crazy
Stock setup sounds amazing... my bets are that a resonator delete will really open her exhaust note up...

Search my name for a post(s), I was one of the first to do it here back in october. The resonator removal is an amazing thing: cheap, easy, and the sound is excellent.

Everything you need to know is in this thread as Vic said --- I highly recommend you start with this before spending the scratch on an aftermarket system (save your money for a tune, which will eliminate the need to pick up any more power from an exhaust swap):

+1. I just had my resonator removed yesterday and it now sounds perfect!! I was very concerned at first that it was going to be too loud and I was surprised because it is not bad at all and not obnoxious at all and when you are just cruising at 2K RPMS or less you can't even tell a difference. When I have noticed it is if you get on the throttle it is a little more aggressive and on throttle blips when it downshifts in S+ mode it is more noticeable and perfect! That was the best $55 mod I have even done!

Was the stock exhaust louder after you did Renntech tune or exactly the same? I haven't done the Renntech tune yet but will in another 1,000-1,500 miles after I get her more broken in and I am wondering if it will get even louder with resonator removed.

Same, though the throttle is a bit touchier especially in sport or sport+, which causes a little more revving at low speeds in 1st or 2nd.

No drone here whatsoever. I would have driven back to the exhaust shop and put the resonator back on immediately if there was any.

i did a resonator delete and called it a day. amg exhaust is good just not loud enough. this solves that issue.

We made an exhaust for my car with valves and honestly the downpipes gave the car a good sound, just was happy with those, we didn't think there was enough demand to build a full system, power gains were minimal.

I think some mfg's are releasing exhausts in the next few months will be interesting to see what comes out.

AMG
rob, are you making a custom exhaust or modified the stock exhaust to have the controll valve?

We built the exhaust but honestly with the stock turbos found no horsepower gains. I think the resonator delete or downpipes make sense other than that the factory exhaust is very good.
