2012 CLS USB Cable

Wanted to post a separate thread on this to see if there is any resolution. The manual with the car describes a "three" cable hook up in the arm rest, one of which is for a USB. The car is delievered with only a "two" cable hookup, neither of which is a USB.

One member posted that he swapped it out at his dealer's parts department. My dealer, in Bethesda MD, had no idea what I was talking about. They apparently researched it and even ordered some items, but could not locate anything. The final resolution from them was "don't believe everything you see in the manual".

If anyone knows where I can order this part, I would appreciate your helping. I am not an Ipod guy, I need my USB! Most other high end cars have this, why is MB so behind the times in this aspect? Meanwhile, they have a PCMCIA card reader, which no one in the US really uses.

Below is from MB Online Parts. I got mine at the parts department of my local dealer:

Media Interface USB Cable
A non iPod USB cable is available at your Mercedes Benz dealer, which will connect select USB sticks or media players with a USB port.

Item No. 2048270304

I traded the two pronged octopus type cable that came with the car into the parts department for the set of three connectors, including usb, and paid the difference in cost which I believe was about $20. My salesperson facilitated so the parts department gave me full value of the two pronged set in the trade.
