Nice ride and worth the wait. It is astonishing to see the march of technology after coming out of an '05 E55. Hell, it's going to take me a month to figure out how half of the doodads work!!!
Power seems nice, but I haven't had a great chance to hammer it just yet. Regardless, I am sure it is just a matter of days before I am ready for a tune.
Hope you owners don't mind if I start firing away with questions. I will however RTFM and do my best to answer them on my own before bothering the board.
Best regards to all.

exactly. it already has 550 horsepower and 590 LbFT of torque
(unless you dont have the P.P)
i wouldnt think it would need any tune!!
i mean how could you put any more power/torque to the road anyways?

ABSOLUTELY!!!!
It makes a fun car that much more fun.
I had mine tuned within days of owning the car. Zero regrets!!!
The car should come with this much power stock

This car handles the extra power very easily. As heavy as these cars are they need the tune in my opinion. Try to drive a tuned car and compare it to your non tuned car. It's a night and day difference I assure you Originally Posted by mainly

My car is a PP version. Yes, it had good power at the stock 550 HP, but with the Vtech tune it feels like I think it should have for a car that costs this much. The difference with the tune was substantial. I'm extremely pleased with the car now Originally Posted by mainly

or can you just take it back to stock if you take it for service?
can i get it in canada?

I'm not concerned with warranty at all. A tune is not detectible by the dealers diagnostic system. There's several threads on this forum pointing that out. Now, lets say that my car suffered a serious engine problem, which I doubt will ever happen, then I would have Vtech flash the ECU back to stock. I spoke to them about this and they told me they would perform this service free of charge. They also told me that if the dealer ever re wrote the ECU with an update (stock parameters) then they would install the tune back on the ECU for me free of charge. This is one of the main reasons why I decided to go with the Vtech tune. If you want the tune then you can easily remove the ECU and send it to Vtech in the US. They will tune it and overnight it back to you.Originally Posted by mainly

ok thanks for the info.
ill think about it.
so where does the effect come in with respect to before and after the tune? i would think even stock, the traction control would interfer when traction is lost. so if you already have to much power how can you use any more.?
ive always wondered this . even with my m5. when i floor it. i spin wheels, in 1st and 2nd.

I get some wheel spin in my car, but it's not out of control. The traction control handles it nicely. I have the limited slip differential option on my car also which does help greatly.Originally Posted by mainly

You honestly believe Mercedes would build a car that they could not detect that the ecu has been reflashed?
I am not saying that you should be worried about the warranty, but if push comes to shove I am sure someone at Mercedes could verify a reflash if they looked in the right place.
That said I would so flash mine if I was lucky enough to have one

I've heard this from several sources, one of which is a friend of mine at a Merc dealer in Missouri. He told me they had a RENNtech tuned car in the shop and could not detect a tune.
Now, if they really dug into it I'm sure they could tell. Throw it on a dyno... or even a test drive would reveal the car performs much better than stock
If push came to shove and I had real engine damage then I would certainly have the ECU flashed back to stock before bringing the engine in, but I doubt it will ever come to that.

yes! congrats man! it must be overwhelming......have fun!! and yes post some pix of the monster!
I think MB is stoked on how many of these cars they're selling
Let me work on some pics guys. Wifeypoo has my camera and I don't want to post lousy cell pics.
Car is kind of plain jane - iridium silver like my old E55. Perf package so at least it has red calipers to spice things up a bit. Also has 19's, Premium Package, Driver's Assist Package, Parktronic, heated rear seats. $112,980 sticker.
Wish it had the Ltd slip, but I didn't get to spec this car out myself.

you listed pretty much every option you an get...
lol
i wonder how much difference there is in a PP vs NON pp in a race, side to side
Mercs lists the PP to be just 0.1 faster, obviously in the racing world that could be worth the pink slip, but id like to see some runs

There are two members here, I think from the ME, that ran PP vs non pp and the difference was tangible- you might want to do a search for the vid as it was probably back in August.Originally Posted by vdubpower
