2012 CLS COMAND

Discussed this a bit in previous posts. My 2012 CLS63 has the earlier version of Comand, being a DVD changer with a PC Card slot. The newer 2012 CLS's have the single DVD Comand with a single SD Card slot, as well as, an USB port in the middle storage compartment.

Only real difference between the two is the screen, where the newere version shows album cover pictures for MP3's, while the Telephone screen show SMS and other interesting features.

I'm not happy that Mercedes decided to release the new 2012 CLS with the older Comand, only to change to a newere Comand within 2 months of the launch.

Now the question - does anyone know if the older Comand software can be upgraded to include the screen functions of the newer Comand? It is physically a difference version Comand, but I can't see why a software update cannot include these additional features. I did check with local Mercedes this last week and they confirmed that I do have the latest version though. Thoughts?

The newer command version apparently has Internet capability...
I would think I bought the latest car there would be the latet technology....
Anyone know if I can upgrade the system?

I assume all new ones being produced from here out have the newer version? Sounds strange that they would have two different versions on the same model year vehicle

2012 CLS550 Launch Edition
I have the 2012 CLS550 launch edition. I have the older version of command and it drives me nuts that I can't get Sirius weather in the car like most other 2012 CLS'.

Can it be upgraded or updated?

Dealers seem to think it is not possible.... noticed the 2013 CLS has even a better interface for the Comand... damn it.

A Few
I don't think we can update our COMMAND.

I posted something previously, dealer mentioned that there's an actual HARDWARE module that needs to be replaced among other things.

I'll call them again this week and have them ask the shop foreman how it can be done...

The new COMMAND is nice, Weather is awesome, Apps, etc... The colors are also different (and nicer) but no real significant changes here...
