Does anybody actually use the night vision?
Wish they would have put a HUD in instead....

Thanks for posting that Rob. I get that "reading in the car" feeling from mine. Maybe better for the rural/mountains roads....
Maybe if it was dead in front of me like in the S it would be better.

Yes, a HUD would be much better. The off center location makes it difficult. For it to work, you pretty much need to have the passenger keep an eye on it while you drive.

I only got it because it was already on the car in the build queue and I was more willing to pay the extra than start a whole new order and wait longer. I guess it may come in handy if I am ever driving at night and both headlights don't work. Otherwise, it seems to be a cool but not very useful option.
I am told that much of all this new technology was originally developed for for a potential future when a car would mostly drive itself, .e.g., lane departure warning, blind sport warning, radar to measure distance to other vehicles, night vision, etc. Since that future has not yet arrived, if ever, manufacturers have a lot of that technology which cannot be used for its original intention, and now have become so many "bells and whistles" type of options to sell us. Personally, I have found most of these systems more annoying than useful, and have turned most of them off. I don't mind the one that warns me if I am approaching another vehicle too fast though -- seems like a good safety warning.

Even though it is dead in front of you in the S550 it's still very distracting, I know it's supposed to be just for reference but I feel like I'm playing mario kart. I would have to say that's one thing I wouldn't care if I had in a future car.
