Saw a camera/lens thread so I thought I'd chime in. I get most of my shots with my L series 24-70 2.8, haven't found a soft spot on it yet. I use a 5D MK II body.
. Jason what camera do you use? I use a canon 60d with 18-135 lense and i also have a 50mm 1.8

I just got my first "real" camera...A Canon T2i and have been using the kit lens 18mm - 85mm 3.5 I think. I just got a 50mm - 250mm 4.0 - 5.6 lens that I used for the first time for the pictures on my other thread. Like it but its not wide enough and would like to in get a lot closer. I ordered a 35mm 1.8 L series lens but it was backordered so I canceled it.
Kevwood - You really like than lens for the canon huh?
AMG - Great pictures...

BTW, a fellow photo man in the 209 section said he's looking to sell his L series 35mm lense, 'discoduck', you might want to get a hold of him.
PS, your CLS is absolutely stunning pal

I have a Cannon 60D with whatever lense came with it......
the super wide angle lense I'd like to get is twice as expensive as my camera was!
as a matter a fact; all the lenses I want/need are more than the camera

Nice camera, got to play with a 60D a few weeks ago.
When I bought my 400D 5 years ago or so I bought the best lenses in the line up that fit the range I was looking for because I knew I'd be upgrading the body but didn't want to re-buy all the lenses. I think I paid $1500USD for my L 24-70 where as my 400D with extra battery, 2 lenses, case, CF card and a few other goodies was only $900USD. No regrets though, my 5D MK II is spectacular with an L in front of it.
Upgrade the body, not the lenses.

Ya, love it. I travel a lot and use it as a walk around. The 5D is full frame so at 24, it's actually 24, nice and wide. At 50 it's just as sharp as my prime 50 and 70 is enought to get a little zoom in there. My next lens is the L series 100-400mm, picking it up when I go to NYC next week, my 5D is so resolution hungry is finding falts (albeit vey slight) in my 70-300 that on my 400D was sharp as a razor.

Good luck with the 35mm and when you do find one, get some pictures up! There is a photography section somewhere here on MB World, not very much traffic though.
Just shot this with my Canon 5D MK1 with Rokinon 85mm 1.4. Badass lens

Also shot these with my 5D MK1 and Canon 85mm 1.8

I recommend getting a 50mm 1.8 as they're dirt cheap and give really sharp photos.
It will be a nice portrait lens for your crop camera.
If you want wide, get the Canon 10-22mm. Expensive but well worth it. I had the Tokina 12-24 as my first wide angle and it was great to learn from; how to deal with distortion, etc.
I find the best lens for crop would be the Canon 17-55mm IS. Rivals most L lenses in terms of photo quality and build.
I took this with the Canon 35mm 1.4L that you ordered.

I have to say this is one of the best lens I've ever used. I wish I hadn't have sold it.
