Why are the numbers for the CL, SL and S different?

I was told that the cheaper the AMG the less airflow is in the design to make sure that the C63 aren't beating the higher end models.
No idea if thats really true though...

same thing they did with the old models... rated the E/CLS at 469 and the SL/S/CL at 493. exact same engine, same tuning, just different rated numbers.

Performance is about the same though because of the weight of the bigger S and Cl, and the SL being a convertable.

correct it came on the 2007 SL and it was easily retro fitted onto other models
AMG80mm tb with Y tube. Also it was rated 530hp if I recall. As it stood all of them produced the same power. Not 100% this is the same for the newer models. Time will tell and if not

Body for body, either stock form or AMG, the CL, SL, and S have at least a higher $25-$30K price tag, so for that much, the least they can do it add a little more power.....or thell their customers they do
