ADV08 Build Progress Pics
ADV has been great, keeping me involved in the build every step of the way, with Sean sending periodic build pics. Can't wait to get these babies... This is the original pic thread if anyone is interested in the CAD pics https://mbworld.org/forums/cls55-amg...pic-shoot.html
These are the centers straight out of the milling machine.

it's such a blast to do it and then to also show the other drivers here....
i seriously don't even feel any pressure about using other peoples mods too.....like the freefall mod for example.....
it's awesome that everyone shares AND appriciates each others cars

I'm looking into modding my side mirrors like my 550 has, and also that rear end spot on the diffuser area thing......

Not to be too forward, but huge boner from those wheels. The more I hear / learn about ADV, the more I'm convinced I need (at least) a set.

a bunch of fast $h!t
Those are going to look sweet !!
ADV makes the best looking wheels imo and they charge accordingly. Their marketing is some of the best I have ever seen. However, they take forever to deliver their product and the paint quality was terrible on my set of ADV05's. Needless to say, I won't be a repeat customer but I don't deny that they own the wheel game right now.

I actually bought them through Wheels Boutique and of course, I contacted them. I'm not bashing them or their customer service. I merely stated the facts of MY experience with them. I have several friends that have ADV's on their cars and they look great. Although, it took them forever to receive their wheels from them too.

More updates, this process is very interesting, lots of vids of the testing at the link.
" The tested wheel was engineered at the absolute minimal weight / material tolerances based on the 2012+ CLS63's exact load rating. The results we're as expected for the most part as there was a stress fracture located around the base of the spoke which we will now be able to engineer a revised version using increased material thickness in this area and hopefully in exchange reduce some material in another area in order to safely maintain the current weight and pass for road use.
This is the process needed in order to provide the lightest weight wheel possible, first the breaking points and strengths / weaknesses need to be identified, then based on test data we can revise and test again. Most likely this will be the only test needed as the area which needs some more material is isolated and there's not really any questionable areas which may or may not be an issue. I would say that at this point, the second round of engineering will be completed and released to machining schedule next week. Hopefully the final set and test pieces will be machined and ready for testing the following week if not shortly after.
Attached are some photos of the test wheel and the stress area. I've got videos as well, you can see them here:

Attached are some images of the test wheel, obviously in raw finish and using the non titanium through bolts.
This is a good thing, remember there's no way to know the maximum weight reduction limitation unless we first exceed that point. This is a great example of our Track Specific SL program – at over $5k / wheel, you can see why. I'm excited to see the end result of this one – it'll be really interesting to see what we end up with."
