Help on ordering CLS 63 AMG
I'm close to ordering my first MB! It will be the first car I've owned that has more than 200 hp lol and probably my only "sports car". So after much test driving (BMW, Audi, Porsche, Caddy, Jag) I'm going all in for what IMHO is the best car for this price point - a 2013 CLS 63 AMG with PP. I'll probably get it "fully loaded" except the carbon ceramic brakes/nightvision and am on the fence with the B&O sound system. The B&O seems to be overpriced. What do you think?
I looked at the Designo options and there is a Platinum Black exterior paint choice. I've called my local dealers but no one has a Platinum Black car in stock and can't really tell me what it looks like. I've contacted MB and their only answer is...contact your local dealers.
Anyone have any experience with ordering Designo options? How does Platinum Black look different from Obsidian Black?
Thanks in advance!
Rob
If you are spending that kind of money, go option by option and get exactly what you want. B & O sound system is worth the money.
What dealers are you looking at?
could always go aftermarket for just as good of a sound......
depending on where you live the NV could actually come in handy......I have it in my 550....
seems like a good idea to save the money on the brakes if you're not planning on tracking the caR....
paint; hmmmmmm....
what color do you want? black? white? silver?
black is a nightmare to keep clean........as would be white......
silver has the best resale value......
it's just a personal thing you know?
welcome and good luck!!
I also decided to buy the PP even if I will tune it further because I think the other items that come with it (carbon fiber in engine, wheel, red caliper, suspension) would cost about the same after market and for resale purposes, it is better OEM.
I do not feel like it is worth spending $3K on carbon fiber ($50 per month more on 5 year loan) neither is the ridiculous B&O. All the system needs is an after market sub and amp and it will sound phenomenal. I did this on my C63 and I felt it exceeded my expectations. You could get a hell of a custom system that would shake the neighborhood for $5K (not sure this would fit the profile of a CLS but just my 2 cents).
Regarding Designo exterior colors, it is really up to you. I decided to go with Matte alanite and for $3K, I could not get a wrap for that price and again it is OEM. For other colors other than Matte, I think you are throwing money away as the color options are plentiful.

I'm pretty close to settling on the options. I'm definitely out on the ceramic brakes as this car won't be tracked. NV probably will be out as well as I'm in a pretty well lit and congested area and don't do much night driving anyway. I have no experience with putting in aftermarket sound systems in a car...but I'm open to looking at doing this if I decide to skip the B&O option.
AC24 thanks I will give him a call. I'm curious about pricing. Is this car selling at MSRP or can I get it near invoice?
