Cls redesign

Just spoke with SA at the dealer about '14 cls S model and he mentioned that in a recent conf call it was said CLS is going to be redesigned/facelift for '15 model year. Thinking of holding off on ordering car till I see some more info on this. I'm sure MB will keep it quiet till '14 model cars are populating the lots.

CLS55 plus a few Ducati's
Not sure if it is my imagination but I really don't see many CLS's on the road and I have often wondered if they are just not selling well.... the styling was very hotly debated when it was released and many consider it a less attractive car than the previous model. Perhaps they didn't convert many previous owners into upgrading.
Anyone know any sales figures for the CLS?

Model will have been out for 3 years. It could happen but then why wait. Life is too short. If you like the car, buy it and enjoy it.

True I could die tomorrow. Would just hate to get the car prob October and see new styling come out in Jan/Feb and take a 30% hit if I like the new styling better. Decisions, decisions.

I have not seen any test mules pictures floating around. I am not sure it will happen as quickly as you might suggest but again MB had kept the new E class refresh pretty hush hush.

I was on the fence for a 2014 with the new 4matic but I got a deal on the 13 I ordered that I could not refuse. There is always something new happening to keep interest up whether it is power upgrade, facelift inside or outside.
If you get a great deal on the car, sell it private if you feel the need to get the new facelift and you won't lose 30%. Or get a 2 year lease.

Actually one of the AMG reps on the private lounge confirmed the facelift for '15 a few months ago. No details though.

Wikipedia has sales figures. It's true - the CLS is a 'rarer' car, but that is a good thing, makes your car more exclusive. I get some looks for my car, but car culture isn't that great in upstate NY. The CLS is a trendsetter - it started the whole 4 door coupe segment, look at all the other manufacturers that are introducing cars in the same segment. If it was pretty bad, MB would have killed off the CLS...

They will change it to the new front bumper design language ala the new E, S, CLA, etc. and give it new headlights. It'll basically look like a large CLA.

Reason it's not selling is because its honestly an inferior product to the s/rs7 and 6 series gc.

Actually it's quite the opposite, pick a category:
engines, not a fan of small - 4 liter v-8's, give me a 6.2L or even 5.5-TT

Body: CLS63, hands down is better looking, offering an executive look. BMW's grand coupe has an ugly front end and the rest is comprised mainly of stolen lines from the CLS. The RS7 has that ludicrous front grill and nondescript rear.

Interior. CLS sets the standard, RS7 has seats with diamond tufting from the 1950's. BMW, no need to comment, just see photo below.

AMG's still the category leader in 4 door coupes, period.
Diamond tufting in RS7

CLS63 - class setting-

BMW grand coupe, your kidding me !

Is this your thoughts or do you have some info on the re-design? Just curious.

M6 Gran Coupe
CLS is easily better looking than A7.....A7's are also dime a dozen. The headlights look newer...rest of body looks dated on that car (A7).

Only have seen 1 6-series gran coupe in person....looked really nice. However, like someone else said...it easily is mistaken for a 5-series. Plus, $100k for a loaded one? I think not. I'll buy a 7-series for that money.

Someone has been ready the mags too much.
The CLS550 did come last on the comparo with the A7 and GC. A lot of subjectivity was included in that decision.
A purchase for one of those vehicles is made by the heart anyway as otherwise one would buy an E, A6 or 5 series for a lot less money so it is very subjective.
I can't wait for a new uber coupe comparison (RS7, CLS63S and M6GC).
As others have stated, I still think the AMG wins but it really is very close as the competition is really top nothc and I am a bit biased.

granted it's my opinion, but i think we can all agree that the general consensus does tend to agree with me.

Porsche 911 Turbo S 2014! E63S 14, Audi S8 13, CLS63 12, E550 12, C63 09, all tuned
That mag comparo was a CLS 550 vs S7 vs GC. Total BS . The CLS does not have a car in the S7 level. And the GC is a joke, should be compared to CLS 63.

Apparently your "general consensus" doesn't include anyone on this forum

The general consensus meaning the entire world. Do any of guys seriously know anything about what's going on in the world? Dieter's head is on the chopping block because of merc's decline vs BMW and Audi. Global sales are a pretty good indicator of general consensus, no?

Listen, I get the we love mb on this board. But even the most diehard mb fan has to admit that outside of this board, the world doesn't agree with us, as evidenced by everything from global sales to car reviews.

I admit that its a matter of opinion whether one thinks the consensus is right or wrong; but one can't dispute that it is against the cls and mb right now.

I see what you're saying about MB, too bad sales are down for the Marque, but everything comes and goes; maybe it's someone else's turn
for a bit.........
that might also explain the addtion of the S badge on the new E63.....
seems MB is trying to come up with little things like that....
would be smarter to allow customers to refine/define the cars they configure and order a bit more......not as much as Porsche, but some more ways to entice buyers
