S+ mode, what exactly does it change?
Does anyone know exactly what the S+ mode does? The manual states "very sporty". I found other descriptions online stating higher transmission shift points, tighter suspension and better engine sound....
So, does it open baffles in the exhaust to account for this sound?
Just wondering what the S+ mode does exactly

I believe its just a transmission adjustment holding shift points higher and making them quicker... as for suspsension, thats your shock button.
No way does the S+ change the engine sound directly but if you are in your gears thru higher rpms you will inherently get more sound.

agreed with above
i dont think our exhaust system has any opening or closing valves depending on your settings...
even in C mode, if u floor it it will be as loud as in S or plus mode
but obvioulsy the characteristics of gear changes and rev matching in the higher modes will affect the exhaust note

this according to MB website:
"Sport mode raises the shift points and cuts shift times by 30%. Sport+ and Manual modes offer 100-millisecond upshifts and rev-matched downshifts."

is there a reason why transmissions wont rev match no matter what setting they are in.....Is it something that actually improves performance significantly or more just the aural pleasure it provides...

guys its placebo, there is no steering effect with the S+... you must be thinking of the amazing M5 with his servortronic adjustment... LOL
You are all driving a car with electronic steering so its the situation that your car is in thats controlling the understeer or oversteer or neutral feel. The electronic steering in the Benz is not great IMHO. You want to try a great electronic steering car, drive a new 991.

Vic is right. Steering is independent of any of the knobs. I like it that way. There's enough computer controlled gadgets. ( yes I know electric steering is computer controlled )

here is a description that indicates ignition changes in M, S and S+ modes:
The "S" (Sport), "S+" (Sport Plus) and "M" (Manual) programs offer a more agile en- gine and transmission setup, while the stop/start function is deactivated. In the "M", "S" and "S+" modes, the engine management partially suppresses the cylinders – by interrupting ignition and injection for a very short and precisely defined period un- der full load, it makes shift times faster than ever. One highly appealing side effect of this exceptionally quick process is a stunningly emotional sound.
