Dang bro i cant remember the last time I reached 10k on a car LOL....

all joking aside I think you can go see Serge at Benzworks and he will do the proper once over for a fraction of the dealer charge. I dont know what the actual service is called though; what does Assyst Plus say?

lol vic i had a feeling you were gonna reply with something like that....just lemme know when the black series or the gt3 to be will ready to move to a new owner...

yeah i did my first service with serge, which was at 9000 or so.
I dont have the LSD so no need for the oil service on that..
Will probably head back to serge for another service soon before the airstrip attack thingy.
Another place i like is Tonys German autocare in santa ana, i take my 500sel there, but he is well versered in everything mercs

I think untill now, mine has the highest milage I saw on M157 although it is 1 out of 3 cars i currently own.

My recomendation: If your car is even tuned only, change the oil like me or Faris every 6000 miles / 10000km.

If you run your car hard, which I do, I change the oil around 1k to clear out all the shavings and minute particles that come from a new engine. I then change the car's oil religiously at each 5k intervals. BMW pays for 1200 mile service and all future service up to 4 years or 50k miles but their intervals are spaced out. But this is a not so well know rule with BMW 100% service: if you dont hit your interval (computer saying oil change time or service time) and its been 12 months since you took delivery, you can take the car for service gratis under the program. I usually would hit this situation if I kept bimmers long enough LOL.

My Porsches are practically bulletproof- my 997.1TT never saw the service bay at a dealer. I changed the oil 4 times in 3 plus years of ownership and 21k miles using an indy shop in the OC. Then I got into car ADD and havent kept a car a year since the Black Series.

I would just go to Serge- AMG certified you can drink beers while you wait and shoot the crap.

Here's what I like to do: every 10k miles....wait, cars can have 10k miles on them? I thought the odometer stopped way before then. By the time my car hits 10k miles the new buyer of my car has already had it for 5k miles!

i was at a local dealer grabbing air filters and cabin filters from the parts department and was chatting with them about oil, if they sold it by the bucket or just the quarts

so they said that mercedes has decided to change the oil across the board from 0-40 to 5-30 mobil 1

part guy told me it was due to the cars burning oil quick.....
i dunno if thats legit or now....not sure how that affects teh cars too?

Vic does the SL manual say anything different than the Black

This website tells you which oil you can use with M157 Engine

http://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/229.5_en.html

Mobil 1 0W40 is the correct oil but I heard good thing about MOTUL 8100 X-cess 5W-40 and it's approved by MB I'm gonna give Motul a shot at my next oil change

2012 CLS63 w/ 30,000 miles

I traded in my 12 CLS63 with 30,000 miles.

Never had one repair except for lots of rims and tires (NY roads)
OE Tune was the only engine mod.
