2012 E63 AMG ALPHA ECU TUNE REVIEW: GAINS 146HP & 295 FT-LBS TORQUE AT THE ENGINE!

We take great pride in writing and developing our calibration files in-house to provide the very best. Performance gains aren’t everything. We’ve seen some of what the current industry has to offer, and a very important part of our requisite is to ensure our calibration files provide big power safely. You simply cannot claim great horsepower and torque figures if the car isn’t running properly and we are proud to say our Alpha tuning upgrades offer you incredible performance without the hassles or dangers of an overly-aggressive tune.

How incredible? Read Tim A.’s testimonial on his Alpha E63 AMG 93 octane pump gas tune below.

“I sent my ECU off to AMS on my 2012 E63 this week, quick turnaround time. Got it back today and all I can say is WOW! Already put 400 miles on the car today and I am thoroughly impressed."

"Baseline numbers on National Speed’s Dynojet were 484whp and 495 wtq After tune, 611WHP and 752WTQ (700HP and 864 TQ). This ECU tune has made this car into an absolute monster, I cannot keep my foot out of it. Still getting 24 MPG on the highway, but she’s got so much torque in all the gears. Car is so fun to drive, more fun than my stock ’09 GT-R was. I cannot wait until you guys get these cars to take E85, it will be insane. Thank you guys for all you do, you’ll have my continued business. I’m an AMS customer for life.”

Anything you add to your Mercedes should be considered a crucial investment because it complements your high end luxury performance car – not some average family sedan. Therefore, your ECU upgrade isn’t something you should trust to just anyone. Join the ever-growing number of satisfied Alpha Performance customers like Tim who’ve added yet another level of excitement with a custom Alpha ECU tune!

Haters crazy
Those are some ridiculous gains. Any comparisons vs Renntech tuned amg?

What's the warranty procedure. Eg car goes in for warranty work... Can they deny based off your tune?

The gains claimed by Renntech and AMS from a full tune of the 4Matic M157 CLS63 are very similar.

AMS claims 700 bhp and 830 lbs-ft at the crank. http://tuning.alphaperformance.com/p...-5-5l-biturbo/

Renntech claims 701 bhp and 839 lbs-ft at the crank.

http://www.renntechmercedes.com/www/node/1300

AMS's tune is $3K ($2,995.95) while Renntech's is $3500 ($3,495).

While AMS has not been tuning AMGs for nearly as long as Renntech, AMS has been at with GT-Rs for years and is considered the best tuner of all for them. And the performance results and the reviews from members here of AMS's tunes of the M157 cars has been impressive.

To me, you couldn't go wrong with either company's tune. I went with Renntech because of their many years of AMG experience and close connection to AMG (owner was an engineer there) and because I met with them but I could just have easily gone with AMS.

There other a number of other very credible tuners out there for these cars of course. But Renntech and AMS are the two that I like the most.

With respect to warranty issues, if MB determines that a component failure was caused by the tune then yes they can deny a claim under their warranty. I certainly would never tell anyone at any MB dealer than a car has a tune (I mean I would never volunteer that information if not directly asked).

Neither Renntech nor AMS (unlike Dinan in the BMW world) has its own warranty for consequential damages caused by their mods. They only warranty the modded part itself. The only AMG tuner that has an engine warranty of which I am aware is Eurocharged. Many members like their tunes. Their tunes, perhaps because of their engine warranty, tend to be a bit more conservative (meaning they do not usually produce quite as much power) than Renntech or AMS.

i noticed in the tuned dyno the power seems to drop off at higher rpms, whereas the stock just levels off. is this an issue?

I had my CLS63 tuned by AMS last week. Thus far I am extremely satisfied. Not use what my average gas mileage is yet because I can't resist driving in AMG mode and can't keep my foot off the throttle. Having gotten her too fast, but sure will get to 100 quickly.

The day I got it back, took her out of the subdivision and laid into her. My wife asked if I needed new tires when the back end tired to pass the front.... I would recommend AMS any day.

Thank you Larry! I am happy you are enjoying the car. Thank you for the honest feedback and I would put some tires in your cart at TireRack as it sounds like you might need them soon hahahaha.

Sounds really great. Use it well. Have yet to hear anything negative from anyone with an M157 engine who has gotten the AMS tune. Good stuff.

How about Kleemann? I have dealt with them in the past and had exceptional experience.

I just sold my Eurocharged tuned cls55 amg which had an absolute zero lag in the peddle, and now have the 2012 cls63 amg with the 550 hp P 30 option and absolutely annoying lag!. Anyone, would the ams tune negate this frustration?

Our tune certainly has the turbos come on qucker but a Turbo will never come on as fast as a supercharger will. I think you will be very happy with our tune. We have a line of customers that are in love with their car now that they have our tune.
