Headed to the drag strip...any advice?
Headed to Fontana this weekend for the first time to run my car in the 1/4 mile. Never dragged my car before so just wanted to get tips for the CLS and pointers if anyone here has done so. Not looking to make this an every weekend event, but just want to have some fun and see what the car will do. Will I smoke the clutches if I hold the brake and gas at the light? Did today to try it and rpms came up to just over 2000, but I let off the gas immediately because I was afraid I was roasting the clutches. My car is all stock except for an AMS tune.

I've run my car at the strip a few times. I've run it both in RS and power braking with TC off. My best time was achieved with TC off and power breaking the rpm's to about 3,500 and mashing the pedal. I've been interested in trying running the car in Dyno mode as renntech said it helps eliminate the ghosts in the TC machine. Play around and see what works best for you. I wouldnt worry about breaking stuff, I've had a tune on my car for 10k+ miles and I beat the hell out of the car with zero issues. Have fun and let us know how it goes.
