CLS63 OEM- Tint Level?
Hey guys- looked around but couldn't find the answer.
Does anyone know what the OEM tint level is on a '12 CLS63?
In MA you can go to 35% light transmission.
I was curious as to what it is out of the gate. If it's already close it may not be worth getting done.

I can't remember exactly but I put 15% on mine and I believe it measures at 12 with a meter. 3%? I'll have my car out of storage by the weekend. I can double check then for you if nobody else chimes in.

Had the same question a month ago and got metered and eventually tinted last week with 35%. The left front window of my 2012 CLS63, as it left the factory read 72% VLT (visible light transmission).
35% look great, not too dark at all. From the inside out, its not really noticable.

Thanks guys- Made an appointment at the local tint shop for noon. He said about 15% out of the factory.
Now the big decision as what brand to go with- They carry Huper Optik, Llumar, Solyx, 3M and F1-

OEM usually 50% ... Its usually actual dyed glass, not just a surface tint. However, it has almost no heat rejection properties, its just dark glass.
Legal limit is usually 35% in most states. 20% is the perfect level tint, below that cops start harassing you if you go 15% or darker with citations & etc.
Make sure you get a high quality ceramic tint (such as Formula 1 tint or etc). More important that the color % is the heat rejection %. F1 ceramic tint at 20% has roughly a 64% infrared heat rejection %, most cheaper dye based tints are only roughly 20-25%. That is where the true measure of the quality of tint film really lies.

Good post ML63- I actually ended up going with the Formula 1 ceramic. I'll post some before and after when the weather gets a bit better. Wish it could be darker but if I have to break the rules... I'll do it by driving too fast instead!
