Speculations (CLS)

Well since E-Class is getting a change, the question that is inevitable has to be asked. When do you think CLS will get a body change?

I would love to keep the car for a while, too. I'm worried about the longevity of the turbos. Have the original turbos in your CLS55 gone out already? Does the CLS55 have the automated fan that continues to run to cool the turbos after the engine is off?

The cls 55 is a 5.5 supercharged, not a biturbo. Although I have heard reliability of the superchargerd were one of the reasons they switched over to naturally aspirated 6.3 and then the 5.5 biturbo.

Its not about liking the car, the car is great but its about the best deal you can get. Cause if the new body gets out im going to be stuck in a contract paying so much more than someone who would just get it.

Other speculations: what do you think they will modify? How much power will they add

yes the 55k is supercharged and they are hardly unreliable, just see the traffic on the w211.

As for new car it will have 9 speed auto, the new 4.4 v8 from the GTS and most likely making around 600+ hp

Superchargers are usually more reliable than turbos since it doesn't get exposed to the superheated gas. Yes, it seems fairly certain the CLS might get the 4.0TT V8. That lowered displacement is a big let-down, though. I wonder if M157 will still be kept for heavier, higher end vehicles ie S-sedan, S-coupe, and G/GL class.

I'm looking into placing my order for a CLS63s later this year. I also heard the rumors about the model changing in the near future. I have a couple of German friends here at the Birmingham dealer, with close ties to the production facility in Tuscaloosa and back to Germany. Their schedule appears to show that the reworked CLS (Non-AMG) won't be released until 2018, and the new AMG usually comes out just a tad later, so mid 2018 maybe.
The leaked prototype pics indicate that the CLS model line will be turned in the S-Coupe direction that will eliminate the awesome taillights (which I really want) that they currently have and will then resemble a S-coupe/AMG-GT type look. As far as the interior goes, I'm not too sure. Might be doing the S-Class dash as well, like the new E will be getting too, but that's me speculating.
That's all I know so far from my reliable sources (at least they haven't been wrong so far). Chime in if anyone knows anything else about this!

I just can't imagine the 4.0 TT being much better than the engine right now.

I agree. Even if it comes out with the 4.0 and is faster, its modifiable limit has got to be less than the 5.5. There's no replacement for displacement!

The GTS is a 4.O liter engine and is rated at 503 hp. I doubt MB would use a different engine for the new CLS.

ops yes, but they will use that engine, and increase power

Also it makes more then 500 currently , but not more then the current 5.5 in S format.

interesting to see what they do
