Trying to get the power to the ground

Hi everyone,

I got the recent Eurocharged tune plus downpipes deal for my RWD 2014 CLS63 S (I want the Weistec W4 package but given it never seems to be available this deal was just so good for the time being). I have received the tuned ECU back and the pipes are to follow.

It definitely makes more power now, and I have't even got the downpipes yet! Before the tune this car would struggle to do a burn-out even in Dyno mode, but now if you are in Dyno mode you will decimate the rear tyres. I went to do some 0-100km/h times and they are worse than before the tune because of wheelspin. The traction control light turns on with every gear change and with the foot to the floor you can make the rear flap around, even with normal traction control on. So now I'm keen to improve traction. I'm currently running the stock (in Australia) Pirelli P-zeros.

I thought maybe:

1. lower the rear tyre pressures? How low?

2. change rear tyres to Toyo R888s?

3. back off on the throttle on my 0-100 runs? My normal technique is one foot on the brake and rev to around 2000rpm, then foot off the brake and a slow depression of the accelerator till you get fully down. I normally have it in Sport mode and normal traction control on.

Any opinions would be most welcome!

Sadly, we can't get the AWD models in Australia......

Yeah, I'm going to go for the R888's I think.

Do you get the impression that the recommended tyre pressures seem too high?

DO NOT buy R888.

Michelin PSS is a much better tire and will last 25x longer.

I have the same setup as you on both my sedans, and my RWD E63 grips with no issues on PSS and 705wtq

Thanks for the advice. Is it just the life expectancy that you got against the R888? I also heard they are quite noisy.

They are stupid loud, and you will barely get 3000 miles, especially if you are lowered or over 550whp

I cant hook with PSS..Not even a chance at lower speeds. Love the tires but if you really want to hook R888 or something like a NT05r or NT555r. But there is always a compromise with tires. PSS is the best all around tire though.

Ideally I'd like PSS for everyday use and R888s on a separate pair of wheels for when I'm mucking around doing 0-100 runs or racing my friends etc. If I got a pair of separate rear wheels I think I'd go down a size or two (18 or 17"), I believe that helps too.
