Rear bumper cover swap for CLS63 MY14 > MY15

So I got rear ended today while stopped at a traffic light. It was a low speed impact but the plastic rear bumper of my CLS63 has a tear and dent, and the matte white paint is messed up. The Hyundai Santa Fe that hit me, of course, had zero visible damage

Assuming the rear bumper/cover needs to be replace, which I know will be the case, I was curious if the MY14 & MY15 bumpers are interchangeable ? If so, and the cost is the same or nearly so, I might see if the body shop can get the MY15 part to replace my MY14 because I really like the look of the side slits... I am thinking they should be a direct fit since there were no other changes to the car itself externally.

Well I asked the body shop to check into it... they said I'd just have to pay the difference in cost between the 2014 and 2015 part, which is probably minimal if not zero. Best as I can see, other than the different exterior sculpting that creates the vertical vent, the parts are identical with no visible differences in the wheel wells, exhaust cutouts, diffusor, parking sensors, etc.

I'll report back when I find out, in case anyone else ends up in this situation.

Im planning on doing the same thing, but I have a 2012. I have 4 rear sensors, while the new bumpers have 6 rear sensors and some cls400 have none. I still have not look into if the sensor harness plugs right up. Or if I ordered a new bumpers if it comes with the sensors. Or what would happen if I got a cls400 non-sensor bumper and just no plug it in. I'm guessing you won't get that beeping sound when you reverse near a close object. I'm hoping it won't through off other equipment if it's not plugged in.

Last time I checked at the dealer there were about 15 different bumpers part numbers. Best to go by the vin. Go to the exact model, color, and year you want and take down the vin. Just the main bumper was expensive, can't remember exactly, about $1500.

Well the shop called Mercedes and they could not confirm it would fit, told them it probably wouldn't, and they did want to risk it. And they said ordering was strictly based on VIN yada yada. So I'm getting the same replacement part I have now.

I suspect it would have fit fine, but would have been an expensive experiment if it didn't. And you never new, it is possible there are some differences on the underside that would have kept it from installing although I doubt it based on what I see.

I'm confident it will fit. I think I read here another member did the whole front end and side skirts and came out nice (face lift on cls550). Yeah the dealer does not want to be liable for anything, it's just more headache for them. Im still searching for a used one, just might take some time.
