2014 Resonator Delete - What size pipes? What grade of Stainless?
Reviving an age old question....I know....
The folks who have done a resonator delete on their CLS63 - what size pipe did you use, and what grade of stainless (304? 409?) did the shop use? My exhaust guy tells me 2.75" is an odd size and 3" will yield larger welds which may be unsightly. Also, if I needed to purchase the pipe online, where would you buy it from? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I have your exact same car and my advice would be dont worry about the details on a foot of pipe. I personally did 3" they expanded the two ends of the stock pipe a bit so there would be a tighter fit. As far as the welds, if they dont leak they are good. I used the exhaust pipe all exhaust shops have that silver galvanized looking stuff and it works great. You will most likely want more sound after that so dont spend to much on the aesthetics of a res delete! Just my .02! Enjoy the car!

Thanks for the reply! I actually had the exhaust shop do the job today. I ordered a 4' length of 304 Stainless Pipe online, had the shop cut and install it. I went with 2.75" and it was a perfect fit. Love the new sound - definitely not obnoxious - just a little more sound when I'm on the throttle. Now.....it's time for a tune!
Get 'er outta there!
Fitted and waiting to be welded - note the pinhole leak from the factory weld in the bracket - also repaired.
Fitted and waiting to be welded.
All Done!

if you ever get catless downpipes, that res delete is going to sound like absolute crap. think "broken lawnmower".
obnoxious is an understatement.

For exactly that reason, I saved the resonator with enough 'lip' on each end to return to stock with minimal effort. PS - one month later and I'm absolutely loving the sound. Best $150 spent on this car.
