High oil usage?

I'm burning/losing about a quart of oil per 1K miles or so...
Is this normal?
I do have the leaky camshaft sensors, but I doubt that would account for that much oil loss.
I am replacing the oil sensors tomorrow (just got them in the mail this morning) so I will have an accurate usage/loss shortly after that. I've checked the bottom and there is no oil gunk buildup that I can see.

i bought mine with 68k on the clock. previous owner had just changed the oil. i've got 80k miles on it now. last oil change was at 75k. have had no need to add oil during my ownership. i've heard that it can burn a quart every 5k miles or thereabouts....so your consumption doesnt sound normal, from my recollection/experience.

No smoke and no odd noises when driving.
I've driven the car about 1.5K since I bought it at 70K miles.
Now when I drive the car, I always drive it HARD. I never take the CLS63 on any leisurely drives that put highway miles on it. I drive it on back roads and almost always put it in manual with traction in sport. I do always let it cool down when I am on my way back by not driving it hard, so the oil in the turbos does not get parked hot.

I'm swapping the leaky cam sensors today, so that won't be a factor anymore.
