Wheel Selection for 2016 CLS63S

Hi All, I’m looking to replace the skinny stock 10 spoke wheels on my 2016 CLS63S AWD with some deep concave 19” rims in satin black that bolt on with no spacers, include tire pressure sensors and won’t rub fenders or cause issues with the 4MATIC AWD. They also need to be as light or lighter than the stock AMG rims. I’ve been looking at rims and like the look of the HRE FF01, HRE P40SC, MRR FS01 and Verde v99 Axis. Does anyone have these or similar rims in 19” on a newer AWD CLS63S? Would appreciate any guidance, impressions or pictures. I wanted to go with staggered rims, but I don’t know if it’s possible with the newer CLS. I’m thinking 19x9 front rim size and 19x9.5 or 19x10 rear with Michelin Pilot SS tires. If no one responds, I might just call HRE and ask them about the FF01 fitments. Thanks

Typically CLS63 owners want 20" sizing when purchasing aftermarket wheels so the premium brands that offer pre-built wheels for your car go with the size that will sell the most. HRE only offers the FF01's in a 20" fitment for your car. The HRE P40SC's can be built in 19" however those are custom forged wheels that will cost much more than the other wheels currently under consideration. In all honesty, the HRE's are well beyond the quality of the other wheels mentioned so I would highly recommend for you to consider that sizing.

That makes sense and I may consider the HRE FF01s in 20” if they don’t create a harsh ride or hurt performance. I can’t find many pictures of AWD CLS63S AMGs running concave aftermarket wheels. I guess the factory 10 spoke AMG wheels are pretty decent, I’m just not crazy about the way they look. I’ll reach out to HRE and ask them for guidance. I’d like to run a staggered setup, but that doesn’t seem to be recommended with the newer AWD models. If anyone has upgraded their wheels on a 2015 through 2017 CLS63S, please share pics and details in this thread. Thanks

We are HRE's largest dealer in the world so if you call them & mention that I am helping you out they will tell you that you're in the best hands. Staggered setup vs square setup is a matter of preference. Staggered setup are often run on AWD cars. I don't see why that would be recommended against. The fitment for the FF01's on this car is 20"x9" || 20"x10.5". 20's would not affect the ride quality or comfort in any major way.

Good info, thank you. Do you know if the HRE FF01s are heavier than the stock 10 spoke 19” AMG wheels? What are the correct offsets for the HREs to give them a wide stance without rubbing anything? I’ll contact them in the next few days to discuss wheel options. I’m thinking FF01s in tarmac will look great on my Designo diamond white 16 CLS63S.

I'm not sure what the factory wheels weigh but the FF01's in 20" sizing are 24.8 lbs each for the front & 25.6 lbs each for the rear respectively. The FF01's come in at ET25 for the front & ET35 for the rear.

I see, the next question would be what tire sizes would work with those rims to not increase overall diameter vs the stock 19s or disturb the AWD. I’m also liking these Vorsteiner VFF 103 rims in carbon or black. How do Vorsteiners compare with the HRE FF01s? I think I’ve narrowed my search down to these two wheels. Decisio

Recommended sizes by HRE are 255/30/20 || 295/25/20.

The Vorsteiner V-FF 103's are 20"x9" ET 25 || 20"x11" ET 35. They recommend the same tire sizes that HRE does. Vorsteiner did no release the weight on these. The rears are out of stock at Vorsteiner with no ETA for return which typically means 60-90 days out.

The HRE's are going to be a higher quality between the two.

I’m leaning toward the 20” Vorsteiner VFF-103s in mystic black. Is there a tire combo safe for the AWD S model that doesn’t use 25 series tires in the rear? I don’t want to run tires that thin as we have plenty of potholes around here and ride quality will suck. Once I figure out which tire sizes to go with, I’ll order the rims.

To confirm, no spacers required or brake clearance issues for the VFF-103 20x9 ET28 front and 20x11 ET35 rear, correct?

No spacers are required to clear the factory brakes with the 20"x9" ET 25 || 20"x11" ET 35 fitment.

Thanks. Can you PM me a quote for a set of four Vorsteiner VFF-103 in those sizes in mystic black shipped to 94089? Are the rear 20x11 rims still backordered or available now?

The 20"x11" rears are still on back order. They are about 60-90 days out. Vorsteiner is only building enough to fulfill back orders so if you want them in the 60-90 days you will have to place a deposit now.

PM incoming shortly.

Looking at Z-Performance ZP2.1 super deep concave in 20x9 and 20x10.5 in liquid metal. Only problem is they only appear to be available in Asia and Europe :-( The Stance SF03 looks similar, but not quite as nice IMO. The search continues...
