Car won't rev over 5k rpm
In the past I've had issues with misfire and the car going into a temporary limp mode at high rpm due to oil in the harness from the old cam sensors.
However a while back the car became stuck in a type of limp mode where the rpms will not surpass 5,000 rpms in any gear. It's essentially like the rev limiter is now at 5k rpms exactly. The car will hit 5k rpm and lose power then upshift and so forth.
My question: is there anyway I can remove this mode at home so the rev limiter goes back to normal? I've tried unplugging the battery and what not

This issue was brought up here by another user. The car must have some type of fail safe to limit the car to exactly 5k rpms. I have heard vague mentions of this before in other places online, but cant find anything anymore.

the car had it's resonator (possibly secondary cats) removed and was tuned by the previous owner, but I cannot confirm this 100% nor know what tune it has
