Black Opal?

Can someone who's seen it in person descibe black opal metallic to me? Is it like a super dark blue or gray? In the brochure looks considerably lighter than obsidian black.

if you want black do not get this colour, it is a deep smokey blue.

I would love to have this car in tectite gray and don't want an actual black car. So I was hoping black opal was a good alternative but have never seen it. Do you think the CLS would look good in this color?

I have a black SL and Black Opal E55. I much prefer the Black Opal as it doesn't show the dirt, or swirls. I don't know why they call it Black Opal - it's really more of a metallic midnight-blue. I would love to see a CLS in Black Opal.

It's somewhat similar to BMW's "Carbon Black" if you've seen that on an M3 or M5.

Black Opal is a great and unique color. I was really glad they had my CLK in it. It is great because it has so many levels to it. In direct sunlight, depending on what angle you are looking at, it looks black, charcoal grey, black pearl or dark, smoky blue.

The rarity of Black Opal adds to its character, and you almost have a chameleon effect to it. Hope this helps.

I love my black opal E55 too. I love the color. It is a deep dark blue metallic in my opinion.

speedAsylum - GREAT Wheels! I have the flat emblem but decided not to go with the 3 star in the grill. I think the 3 slats with the 3 star looks good, but the E comes with 5 or 6 and I didn't think it was worth the extra effort.

I have a Black Opal ML500, I'm not a fan of the color black on my cars because it's hard to keep it clean. But this kind of black is really nice, like speedAsylum mentioned, it's like midnight blue. It doesnt really look like black, people always mistake the color for blue.
