Driving the CLS55 and revising my order

Sometimes, clouds do have silver linings! I have had on order for months and months my CLS 55 (pewter with champagne interior and matt burl walnut) at a dealer which unscrupulously took the first three production slots for its general sales manager who flipped them for quick five figure profits. Accordingly, my order has still not been scheduled for production.

Today, I both drove a CLS 55 and saw a CLS 500 with the color combination I had had on order. Those two colors simply, I was shocked to discover, don't blend well at all! Accordingly, I changed my order to Iridium Silver with Ash leather and the high gloss Laurel wood. Ironically, change orders are only accepted when there is at least 21 days more until the production of the car commences.

I currently own a 2004 E55, and I was amazed how much more I enjoyed driving the CLS55. The seats, to begin, are far more comfortable; one's back actually can fit between the bolsters! The steering wheel is thicker, and the steering itself is more responsive. The speed is about the same, as is the braking. The interior is finished a bit nicer, I think, and, while those cup holders are not as elegant, they are at least more functional. All and all, it was a very pleaurable experience, making my wait for my new car ever more unbearable!

"Pewter" or should we call it "PUKER"

I to ordered "Pewter" with "Cashmere" Interior and I just happened to see a CLS500 with that combination. It was cloudy that day and the color looked like a dingy brown, thus the "PUKER" reference above. So, the next day I called the Dealer and changed the colors to Black with Cashmere Interior. Glad I saw the "PUKER" combination before it was to late. - Bob

Easy, Marine. I have an 03 pewter e55. I'm not going to tell her what you said about her skin color.

I think a lot of 03-05 E55’s are going to be hitting the market soon.
I know mine might soon.

Question "Pewter" is just not the same on the CLS!

stickyc - Sorry - No offence meant on my part. I have seen earlier MB's with "pewter" and I swear MB has changed the color (Pewter), because the ealier MB's do not take on that Dingy Brown look when there is no sun out. - Bob
