Seat Belt Sensor

Guys, this one really pisses me off. How can I mute the seatbelt sensor so it stops beeping all the time?

too many to list
The same thing happened with my E55. I could put a basketball of something in the passenger seat and it would set off the chime. I was told your dealer can dissable it, but it reminds me to wear my seat belt (I get lazy sometimes).

i was told they couldnt by Illinois law. hope i dont have to drive to cali just to get the thing disabled, driving me nuts. been thinking about hitting the junk yard and seeing if i could grab some MB buckles. then cut them off and just keep them plugged in all the time. that is if i didnt wear my seatbelt

In the CLS review in the May Car and Driver, it was basically the writer's only complaint. It annoyed him to all ends as well.

My saga continues...my local dealer here in Tampa just refused today to disable it...the excuse was safety + they didn't have the codes from MB. John, are you sure your dealer would be willing to do it?

They better - he told me that have to program it and it may take a half hour - going there next weekend to get my sport pedals put on and to put the seat belt sensor out of it's *** misery. I'll let ya know when it's done.

Are you actually complaining that the car wants you to wear a seatbelt?

As far as I know, the only real problem is that if you set a small bag or backpack or something similar on the passenger's seat, then the chime will go off and that is annoying. However, there is a fix for that if it is an issue in your vehicle.

I just don't always wear a seatbelt and I can deal with chiming for about 5 or 10 seconds, but IT NEVER GOES AWAY!!! It's nice that it doesn't want me to get hurt, but it nags to much.

I always thought that they actually found a way to make me wear my seatbelt by having the most annoying chime ever!

It works for me.
