Designo now available!

Hi,

just talked to MB USA and they verified the availability of two designo editions (those I've seen on NetStar):

Designo Mystic White (tan interior)
Designo Graphite (graphite interior)

Unfortunately, they "forgot" to offer designo Mocha Black - that means no designo for my ordered CLS...

I'm not 100% sure on that, but I assume cost and Trim/wood will be identical to the designo Graphite currently available on the E55. Just check out the online configurator (I think price was $5,450 extra and the trim color is Poplar Brown Wood).

Perhaps you should ask your salesman to DOUBLE CHECK on the Designo Mocha Black. That color IS available in Canada. I checked with my salesman yesterday and he confirmed that Designo Mocha Black (color code: 033) IS orderable in Canada. I am struggling between Designo Mocha Black and Iridium Grey.

However, it might be different in the States. For example, Pewter has been available on MY05 SLK in Canada, but in the US, it is a new color for MY06 SLKs.

Harris, thank you for your message! I called MB USA yesterday and unfortunately, designo Mocha Black isn't available in the US. The availability of options, especially with BMW and Mercedes, has always been different between Canada and the US. I have no idea why, but usually customers in Canada are offered a bigger selection of options than customers in the US.

I can highly recommend Designo Mocha Black! I've seen this color on a CLK convertible and it simply looks awesome! The two available options for the US are no options for me because I def. prefer a light interior but simply hate white exterior (just my opinion). Mocha Black would have been perfect, but I think Obsidian black and Cashmere is O.K. as well (at least I can save $5K now ).

Exclamation Correction, my info was wrong...

I have to make a correction to my info previously reported on this thread concerning designo Graphite for the CLS55:

The interior color (color of the seats and door inserts) isn't Charcoal -

IT IS DESIGNO PORCELAIN (some kind of beige, according to rep. of MBusa)

the wood trim is BLACK PIANO LACK - that is so awesome - I will change my order and get that...

I've never seen it in person, but I guess mystic white has a kind of pearl-effect. In Germany, there are different (price)categories for exterior paint:

1. standard paint (no charge, jet black i.e.)
2. metallic paint (obsidian black i.e.)
3. designo metallic paint (graphite grey i.e.)
4. designo mystic paint (mystic white i.e)
5. designo chromaflair paint (most expensive, about $5,000 extra).

So you can call mystic white some kind of pearl white metallic...

Is black piano finish a fake solid black laquer with a clear coat that looks like real plastic?

All I know is that the German price list shows this trim as wood-trim so I highly doubt that it's just plastic. The Range Rover Supercharged (and only the Supercharged) can be ordered with such a trim as well and it consists of wood, too (just like a piano - looks artificial but is real wood...).

The IWC limited edition CLS55 comes with this trim, too.
