My Intro :)
Hi everyone, I will be a proud owner of a 06 CLS55 starting tomorrow and decides to post a little something to start off with.
Currently I have a 05 Land Rover LR3, a 06 CLK500 in my garage. I had traded in my 02 BMW745i for this CLS55, I loved my 745i to death since I got it 3 years ago but the nagging little problems took it's toll on me, believe it or not, the iDrive is the thing I love most in that car and contrary to everyone else I had absolutely no problem mastering that little button, even my 3 yr old son knows how to use it to change CD and radio, it's the best thing to happened to cars since they invented cars. However the automatic trunk has been the worst thing, i have had it repaired 9 times in the past 3 years and it keeps breaking down
Anyway, when it was time to replace my 745i I was looking at the new 750i first, then the new M5, but after looking over the new M5 I decided that there is no car I hate more, the styling is so much down the drain compared with the mean look of the 745i that I will not be caught driving one, the interior is even worst, nuff said. Then I looked at the Audi A8 but that car is not flashy enough for me, it looks too much like every other Audi. Then I was leaning towards a E55 for the performance but man my heart skip a beat when I saw a CLS500 in the showroom, it's the first one I see in real life, comparing the E to the CLS is like comparing a 80yr old grandma in a bingo parlor to seeing a supermodel in a casino, there is no contest, CLS wins hands down in the looks department and I have found my future car.
I got lucky with the ordering as at first there was no way to even get a CLS55 before next January as everyone single one coming was hold for someone, but there lies one single Black one that was being hold by the dealer's manager and I managed to secure that car for myself, it is in my favorite color and got every single opton that I want, as if I had ordered that car for myself. It was built first week or July and I am picking it up tomorrow Aug 6th.
I had just took delivery of my CLK500 2 months ago, it's a convertible for my wife, silver with red and black two tone interior. After living with that car for 2 months I have managed to convince myself after 3 years that I dont actually have to have iDrive in a car, but boy do I miss not having to hunt for buttons and controlling most of the stuff with a single button.
As most of you have already guess, I am a big fan of the new S-Class' interior but I am still not convinced the exterior is suitable yet.

The CLS is stunning ride especially when you drop 'em 1.5 or 2 inches and throw some deep dish 20's on it.... I agree about your comment on the S interior and not sold on the exterior yet.... But you know how it goes, Another year or 2 will go by and will probably love it..
I feel for your excitement as I am too excited over the new CLS55 when mine comes in this Nov/Dec. Definitely 19" or 20" rims are a must but I am not sure about dropping it 1" to 2", to each his own. Congratulations and looking for more of a writeup once you get it.

WOW!
It drives super awesome, just before leaving the dealership the salesman reminded me not to exceed 4500rpm for the first 1500km for proper break-in of the engine, and it took all of my self-control to keep myself from gunning it every chance I got. This is gonna be a long first month.
The styling really was a killer as I went to the mall with my wife and son after taking delivery of the car and when I returned there was a crowd of people gathered around my car to check it out. Then when I met my friend for dinner and the valet parked my car in front and moved my friend's Gallardo to make room for mine, that makes my day
Here in Vancouver there isnt a lot of CLS around, think Mercedes sold like 20 of them and mine was like the 4th or 5th CLS55 on the road, so it's definitely a rare car around and it's not likely that I would run into another one soon.
Anyway after seeing the whole car, I think the stock 19" looks real good already and the only thing I might want is to get them chromed, chrome rims goes better with black cars. I think the ride height is jsut about right, maybe half an inch or a full inch in the front but it's not something I would lose sleep over. On the other hand my CLK definitely NEEDS lowering as it currently looks like it's gonna go offroadiing with my LR3. Will need to talk my wife into accepting it first though, it's her car afterall.
Almost forgot, the windows definitely NEEDS tinting as the bluish tint from MB doesnt matches with the black, any ideas guys and gals?

oh how do you like the lr3? ive been looking around for an suv and am interested in that one.
anyways, post some picS! ill wave if we cross paths on the road.

got mine from the richmond store also.
My wife and I both loved the LR3 to death, before the LR3 we had a RX330 and that was the biggest mistake I made buying a car, that Lexus is just junk, there is no power and it rides awful and the seats are the worst ever, I cannot find a comfortable driving position at all. Got rid of it after 6 months. It's the last time ever for me to let my wife do the car buying.
I loved the 7 seat configuration in that car and since both my wife and I are minivan haters it's our people mover car. I highly recommend you go and test drive the LR3 yourself, I was sold after my test drive.
I have personally seen 3 other CLS55 around, one is a silver one that I saw driving around, one is the iridium grey one for sale in the broadway store and the 3rd one is the white one in the back lot of the richmond store, my salesman told me that white one in the back is sold to a 16yr old girl who just got her driver's license not long ago, she is out of the country atm so that car will be sitting in the lot till at least september.

Hi whoopsy!!! I'm from Vancouver too!! Welcome to the forum... Personally , I think CLS55 would be best suited in Black!! And stock rims are good enough..... It sure draws ppl's attention.. I remember seeing the first CLS55 in yaletown, that was a black one( might be yours
), it looked so aggressive and sexy....

nice to see there are a few others from vancouver also, makes me feel vancouver is not such a little city after all
that black one u saw at yaletown most like is not mine, I just took delivery of my car on the 6th august this pass saturday. I agreed with u 100% on the look of the car in black and the stock rims, they already look fantastic as it is, even the ride hide is good enough for me too. the only thing I might do is to get the windows tinted and maybe get chromed versions of the stock rims.

thx dude.
jikjak I was thinking about getting a white one too cause I think it's really sharp looking and eye catching in white, but finally settle on black as I ALWYS love black cars, and if my wife dont have a say my garage would have been all black.
so could it be that the black one i got now was yours and it's only available to me after u switched color?
