Sirius Radio Question
Do I have to have that "Funky Antennea" placed on the trunk deck lid or is there another way to get sirius radio? Ordered a CLS 55 and salesman said that is the only way.

The the only way to get the Sirius from the factory is to take the antenna mounted on the trunk. If you don't get it now it's would be damn near impossible to add it later and integrate into the command system. This is because they use a different wiring harness.
I decided to add it to my order and get it from the factory..

Don't listen to the dealers; my buddy did his aftermarket, not too difficult to install, plus the antenna is hidden. Everyone here believes you HAVE TO drill a whole in your trunk and have that antenna on the top of the trunk. Not true...

I found a Mercedes dealer in my area who did the Sirius installation on my CLS 55 with an antenna mounted under the hood (below one of the partial openings toward the windshield side of the hood). Works great and from what I can tell by comparing to my other friends with sat radio, the reception is about the same as an exterior trunk mounted antenna.
My only problem was that after dropping the car off, they drilled the trunk anyway because of some confusion in the shop. They gave me a new trunk and did install it under the hood, so my one suggestion is to make sure that they note on your service order not to drill the trunk.

Nothing MB related (sorry)
MBenzNL installs Sirius SAT radio with a hidden SAT antenna... always... Steve hates to see the huge antennas on the trunk; besides, he will never drill a hole in the trunk. Would be a real waste. ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
So no matter what the dealer says: it IS possible to install Sirius with a stealth installed antenna. It may cause some occasional drop outs, but that will also depend on how well covered your area is.

We will start contacting all interested customers within a week or two. We don't have exact dates at this time, as there is a possibility that Steve will go to Seoul first - for business, not for pleasure.
So it depends on when he will go there and when he will move on to other areas...
