Tire Problem

Just want to give you all a heads up. Just purchased a new CLS 55. I love the car. Decide to take a road trip from Colorado (Denver) to San Antonio. About 180 miles from Denver, I got a warning from the car computer that the tire pressure needed to be check. I pulled over and check each of the tire. Sure enough the right rear tire was low. I examed the tire and there was a nail on the side of the tire. Damn! Called Roadside Assistance, not much they can do except come out and put my spare tire on and I would have to wait for them to come down from Colorado Springs about an 1 1/2 hour wait. Decided to put the spare on myself. Started to call around and see who had a replacement tire. NO ONE in Colorado has a replacement rear tire for the CLS 55 (285/30ZR19). The soonest they can get me one is about 3 days. Can't wait 3 days to get to San Antonio. So I drive back to Denver, 4 hours since the spare tire can only go 50 Miles/hr. What a long day. So now I'm going to get a few hours of sleep and load up the Cayenne TT and try it again. Bottom line, if you have a flat be prepared for a long day and wait for them to find you a replacement tire! Thanks for letting me vent.

Scooter/Tire

Scooter is covered up and staying warm. A little chilly in Colorado for a long haul trip on the scooter.

Found out from Glauser (Dealer) that they had to special order the tire, they even had to provide the VIN number before Mercede would release the tire to them. You guys might want to check with your dealers that they are prepared to support you just in case of a flat.

Enjoy!

I would never get stock tires on a car of this caliber. Michelin PS2 all the way. The stock tires have no grip and ride lousy too IMO.

Stock Tires

I agree on the stock tires. However, it's a waste of money to replace the OE tires at this time. Planning on getting snow tires for the winter. Come spring, we will get new wheels and tires. I also like the PS2's. My Boxster S came with 19" PS2's, nice tires.
