Cool

Too bad! I was already in line to make this purchase. This would have made me a happy camper.

Dont speak too soon!

The newest Automobile Magazine claims that on top of the CLS63 that will no doubt be appearing some time in the first half of '06, there will be a 621HP CLS65. So dont forefeit your place in line just yet! Along with the CLS63, the M156 6.2 Liter V8 is slated to appear in the ML63 and R63 as we know, but also along with the E63 and CLK63! Turbocharged versions of the M156 are also in the works with outputs ranging from 563HP and 664 Lb-Ft to 697HP and a staggering 886 Lb-Ft! It has been said that the 6.2 liter is to be stroked to 6.8 liters at a later date as well! The 6.8 is a historically significant number from AMG's motorsport past. Big things are coming from our beloved Mercedes AMG!

Just imagine: CLS68 Biturbo!!!! BMW M BMW Shmem

I'm going to pay a visit to MB of Fort Lauderdale some time...

IMO: I really don't think that Benz would allow the 65 engine into anything but the 3 main classes *S, CL & SL* But, if it does get into the CLS

The latest info I have been getting from the European websites is real sketchy.

One thing is for sure....M157 (or some variation of M156) is coming Jan 07. Pretty much consensus is that it will be Bi-turbo V8.

Was hoping for the monster 700hp, but looks like that is overblown. Numbers are all over the place varying from 571hp to around 615. Sounds pretty doable.

We'll see.

BMW is clearly on the road to losing the HP race so long as they continue their commitment to naturally aspirated engines. Power is only going up from here and we are approaching the limits of power production without forced induction. The new M V10 and M156 engines are absolutely state of the art. BMW isnt going to be able to make much more power than it already is without forced induction of some type unless they counter with even more cylinders. Something to think about.

Hard to tell.

Normally there would be concrete photos or information by now. It seems every CLS65 "spy photo (shown below) is nothing more than a 55 with the amg spoke wheels. Time will tell but my friend at Fletcher Jones says they still know nothing of it and as the largest benz dealer in the world they would probably have an idea.

Update. My FJ friend called me back and said the CLS63 is confirmed for 07. I assume it's the naturally aspirated AMG version. But no 65.

Who knows.

Early Photo

See this link for long lead pictures of the CLS63, and some other delectables in the M-B product plan.

What do you think of the next E-Klasse?

I have a Barolo Red CLS63 being assembled in April, expect to see it around Memorial Day. Drove a CLS55 around Baden-Wurttemburg and Alsace in November - that was a trip.
