Its completely dependent on your taste and preferences.

-M6
Pros: Better drivers car, more involving, V10 sounds nice, slightly faster as long as your exceeding the National speed limit.

Cons: broke-d!ck-dog ugly, I-Drive, finicky to get full power and LC only a couple times per hour, slightly faster as long as your exceeding the National speed limit

-CLS55:
Pros: Staggering, effortless torque from just 2600 rpm, more relaxing, easier to drive and get consistent times in drag. Full power always on tap. Gorgous sheetmetal and slit side windows.

Cons: ...thinking....5 Speed Automatic.....um....no Black Birdseye Maple option and no LSD. :p

-CLS63
Pros: 7GTronic which coupled with 465 Lb-Ft equalls greater torque multiplication and output at far less RPM than M6 can even muster at its peak! Only a couple less HP. This will put the smackdown on the only real advantage the M6 has right now.

Cons: None that I can think of, lol!

Also might consider the CLS55 if you planning on any mods as the Kompressors are rather easy and much less expensive to mod than naturally aspirated engines. Just with my K1 mod my dyno numbers and results are amazing considering the low cost. Just a thought.

Im sure you would agree that an LSD should be standard equipment on these cars and not part of a $10K option.

BTW, I like your cat!

I just don't think the CLS63 with all it's glorious torque can beat an M6, straight line or not. Remember the M6 is a lighter car.
However, one MORE advantage of the CLS over the M6 is rear passenger room: The M6 has no leg room

None of the cars are even out... so it's a little difficult to compare other than the specifications we know off

You be surprised how much room the M6 has in the back for passengers, certainly much more than DB9s, XKs. The only thing is that the backs look to vertical and I'm sure that'd be an issue on long trips. The M6 seems quite large for a coupe.

PS: I have the M6 vs CLS55 article that I could scan if anyone cares

Let me answer your question a little differently. The local MB dealer takes 30-40 BMW's in trade a month. The BMW dealer takes in 5-7 MB's in trade a month. The point, you only have to own several BMW's to get the point.

Did you get a delivery date on the M6?
I just bought a CLS55 (took delivery last week) but I'd take the Bimmer over the Merc if they could deliver it. The problem with BMW is that they can't. I have been on the E60 M5 waiting list for a year and a half and my name won't come up for at least another 6 months (thats why I bought the CLS55). And the M5 is a configurable model on BMWs US website, the M6 isn't. By the time you could get your hands on an M6, Mercedes will have more powerful AMG powered vehicles available.
I prefer the BMW driving experience over the Mercedes. I just went from an E46 M3 w/SMG to this AMG monster and its taking some getting use to.
I love everything about the car except the transmission. I know this is an age old question but why can't Merecedes put a manual or a F1 style gearbox in their high end cars?

I know I have read this a few places. Does anyone have a link to an actual review that states the power problems when pushing the M5/M6 several times in a row?

Thanks
