CLS55's have open differentials?

I've been reading a bit on this forum and have the impression that the CLS55 (without 030) is equipped with an open differential (peg-leg, one-tire-fire burnouts)?

Is that true?

You are correct that it does not have a LSD unless you get the 030 package.

As for being a one wheeled wonder, it is a bit of another story. They use ESP to beat some of the wheel spin issues.

It is not as noticable as you would expect. Both tires spin most of the time even is situation where you are in a fairly tight turn.

So as I understand it, it will spin both of the tires evenly even without a proper LSD in there.

Is the ESP completely defeatable when it's time to roast the tires?

Is the AMG locking differential on the 030 a mechanical or clutch type differential that could eventually wear out?

I think all differentials can wear out because it's friction that prevents the wheels from slipping.

You can put the car into dyno mode to fully disable ESP.

By putting the car in dyno mode, you also disable all safety systems such as ABS, ESP, Air bags, EBD, ESR, and BAS.
