amg fog light bulb

hey guys, I'm actually taking delivery on a CLS 500 with the AMG sports package on Friday but I wanted to know if you know what kind of bulb is in the AMG fog lights? I know the headlights have a H-7 bulbs and the guy in the service/parts department could only tell me its halogen 12v 55watt bulb which doesn't tell me anything. is it a H-1, H-3, H-7??? i want to do HID's, take a look at this CLS 500 AMG with 8000k HID's on fog lights:

This sure looks nice but the heat will fry your fog light circuitry...There was an extensive discussion about this in a previous forum.

How will the HID system fry the circuit? The HID is ONLY drawing 35W but the regular halogen is drawing 55W. It would be logical that it would throw a bulb out error code, but I can't see how the harness could get damaged.
