Help with tire senors....

I just put my new rims on, and did not know the cls has sensors! Can this be turned off, and how?
Thanks,
Frank

Why don't you just transfer them over from the OEM Wheels to your new wheels? - Bob

TPMs

These are embedded in the computer on the CLS 55. With new tire and wheels, yo may need this reset unless the diameter of the combined new wheel and tie is the same as the OEM wheel and tire.

Check with the folks that installed the rims... make sure they installed them properly.

If you do not reset the pressure monitor then it will simply not be active.
It will have no effect in daily driving
You just won't have any warning of a flat.

there's no sensor in the wheel. the TPMS is on the car which only measure the rolling mass of the speed. that's why it doesn't tell u the exact pressure but only if it's low.

Mine tells me the pressure on all 4 tires, not just if it's low

...there is a PASSIVE tire pressure monitor system and an ACTIVE tire pressure monitor system available for the CLS...the passive one works of ESP - the active one has a control unit, 4 antennas and 4 wheelmounted sensors...

if chase_drive has the active system he either has to get the sensors swapped if he has upgraded to another style of mercedes / AMG wheels or just has to get the dealer to switch the TPMS system off through stardiagnose if he went with some aftermarket wheels.
if chase_drive has the passive system he has to read his manual and just do what it sais and that will help him getting rid of his failure code.

greetingz,

I good wheel & tire shop can put your sensors on your new wheels. They may have to strap them to the center barrel since the will not fit all valve stem holes. Or they can get you a second set of sensors for the new wheels so if you want to use the old oem ones for a track day or something you still have pressure information.

I'm not sure if it can be turned off or not.

I almost forgot, post a pic of the new rims!

Thanks....

I do not have the option, just the passive system. Just found this out by your response. I just reset the system on the esp and it worked!
thanks...
