Phone question

HI. In the new car (CLS55) we have the integrated phone option. We have not bought a phone yet. I was told to wait because MB had some new items and technology coming in a few weeks. This was said by the sales manager who did not know I had purchased the integrated phone option.

My sales rep is on "an extended leave and may not return".

Does anybody know anything about phones, options ect?

I am totally clueless when it comes to phones. Can any of you help guide me?

Wait/not wait???
Get it from MB or another vendor???
Which phone to get in each scenario????

Thank you.

The MBUSA web site has a description of the available phones you can get from the dealers. You have to get one of the MB phones for the system to work (because they have the MB chips needed). I believe they are all Motorola phones, the 60v, 600v or 700v. The phone you get depends upon your carrier. I got a 600v phone.

When I ordered my car the dealer said the phone was "about $500". When I went to pick up the car several weeks ago I was told the phone was $800 with installation of the cradel. I objected and the dealer reduced the price to $500 (including installation of the cradel). This by the way was the only discount I got on the car!

Its an expensive system, but it works perfectly and sounds clear. It is a great option to have. I was not told that any new phone models were about to be introduced.

I have...

Motorola V710 Phone. Verizon is my carrier.

Works perfectly. It is a camera phone, takes a decent picture.

You almost need to decide on the carrier you are going to use and then see what phone is offered/compatible

I paid $525 for the phone. Came directly from the Benz dealer.

I love it. I have stored over 40 voice activated phone #'s

After you get it, use it a while, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

As far as new phones go, I would only let price influence my decision to wait. This phone is way more phone than I'll ever use. All I don't need is something even more high tech at this point I think the new phones would a bit more than less money. But I sure don't know.

If you end up with the phone I have, you will be happy... I think

its a shame that there is no bluetooth availble yet. I think it is a much better option since it doesn't restrict you on phone or carrier. Acura, I believe was the first to have this feature. It is starting to show up on more and more vehicles.

When I purchased my E they wanted an extra 1500 for the system which isn't bad considering its full integration. But i just can't beat my service with T-Mobile and their phone are with Verizon.

Right now the only phones available are the motorola's that AMGLAB spoke about. Doc i think what you have to look at first is to see if Verizon works for you, if it does than I would purchase the phones. I used to work for a Motorola Service Center fresh out of high school. Since then i have always felt that they where the better phones.

That was then and now in 06 there are so many options with phones that in my opinion are too much. I do use a pda phone to keep me organized but bottom line I just need the phone to be a phone. (am i rambling?) I like the full integration becuase it really provides a true "HANDS FREE" ride.

That's my 2 cents. Hope it made some sense.
