The red triangular warning light to the right of the speedometer on my car will briefly light up and beep at times. Sometimes accellerating, sometimes decellerating and also just randomly.

Any idea what this is?

It should be the warning light that means you are coming up on someone to quickly. You will notice it doesn't do it with your foot on the brake.

Even with distronic deactivated it will beep/blink.

You turn it on or off with the button above the distance adjustment.

Can Drive 55

I have distronic and my red light came on a lot when the car was new. I suppose it adapted to my driving style and it almost never comes on anymore. I bet yours will do the same.
