CLS55 sound isn't loud enough

It seems that there is a sound limiter installed in the stereo system in my cls55. Sometimes something happens to it, and it sounds louder, like the limiter stops working for a while or something, but then when you can crank up the sound as loud as it really can get, the surround (central) speaker starts making weard noises.
Does anyone know how to turn off the sound limiter, or what to do to make it sound louder, because I want to install a subwoofer and I'm afraid I won't hear anything but bass.
Thanks

I was thinking to install an additional amp for the speakers, but then I've read that the harman kardon system comes with a 480W amp. So I don't know what the problem could be. This is the only thing that frustrates me in this car. For a 100K they could have made the music louder

factory systems all suck, regardless of brands. Trust me, if you are into music, spend a grand or so and put in an aftermarket stereo. I changed out my bose in my c43 to aftermarket and it is amazing.

also, the "limiter" you are talking about is compression. When an amp starts to get taxed, some of them will lower their output so not to cause any distortion. (pretty common on PA amps and such) Your HK system may have 480 watts, but it does not have the power supply and cooling mechanisms needed to properly output that kind of sound.

So would you suggest to change the amp? Because the HK speakers are known to be pretty good.
