i was just on the configuration on the german site. the base price for the cls63 is 101.094,00 EUR . does anyone remanber what the base price of the cls55 was in EUR? i would like to know the price diff.

I dont know but i think thats a great question, it would help determine the future price here in america...i would expect?

That's about $123k USD at the current exchange rate. Hopefully someone will remember the base price of the CLS55 in Euros so a useful comparison can be made.

I have expected a jump in base price to the CLS63, and decided to get a CLS55 for that as well as other reasons, so I am curious to find out!

So it seems there will be about a $8k price increase

Looks like a CLS63 will probably cost about $98-100k with the gas guzzler tax and typical options (keyless, premium, lighting, etc). Probably won't be any discounting to be had for a while either on new or low mileage used, unless you have a special relationship with a dealer of course.

Buyers of the CLS550 will be getting a lot more for their extra dollars (compared with the 2006 models) than the CLS63, particularly since the latter is losing some torque too. But I have little doubt the CLS63 will kick the crap out of the M5 or M6 at high speed driving, which unfortunately I can't really do without risking jail time
