Washer Method

There is only one sensor for the rear wheels, which is attached to an aluminum bracket that is in turn anchored to the steel frame with two bolts. The bracket is very light and is not a load bearing structure. If you notch the holes, lower the bracket, and replace the bolts (and tighten them of course) it will not go anywhere. The flanges on the nuts will keep a strong grip even with vibration, plus gravity will help keep the bracket in the lower position.
Even if the bracket slipped back, it would not cause any harm as the car would just rise up to the original position.
Newton22, you must not have a W219 or W211. There may be a way to lower the rear by bending the aluminum bracket itself but I didn't know how to do it and wasn't about to experiment. I am not familiar with the other MBZ models... some may have have easier adjustments for the rear end.
No washers needed for the rear on the CLS. One could try to remove the bracket and lift it with washers, but I'm not sure if it would raise or lower the car. I suspect the former otherwise no one would have discovered the dremel solution.
Bipasha, let us know how your ground - fender heights change after the lowering. You should expect a modest rise in the front after lowering the rear because of weight redistribution. I would up adding an extra washer to each front to compensate, this maintained the initial height when I lowered the front only. And of course post some after pics!

three washers. Again, my bad...about the before and after pics. Before i could have fitted both 2 fingers between the gap...including the pinky finger. Now i cant even fit 2 fingers in the gap...so i guess you get the idea. Yes...i will be adding just oneeeee more washer. But i dont wanna drill out the existing bolt. Any ideas? How does Loctite work? Good? -RiCH

your camera probably has a button for close up shots. on the sony, its a little flower in a flowerpot. once you apply the button, the pics will come out clear.
I see you have the painted sidemarkers. Now on ebay you can get the euro-clears... which may look even better. good job.

Do you know if the W221 has the same ride height adjustments as the W220 ? I saw a really nice 2007 S class at the gym today with great looking 20" wheels... but it looked jacked up and really needs to be lowered 1.5-2".

Looks awesome Bipasha! I'd apply some Loctite to that bolt particularly if you add another washer -- which you'll probably need to do once you drop the rear end.

thats an interesting concept, if you will need another washer once the back lowers, but i wonder if it applys to this situation since if you put more weight in the car, it will raise to the height preset in the ecu based off of the measurement from the sensors. the front and rear potentially will be independent based on that concept. pls advise, bipasasha once you figure it out. i'm guessing the front will remain the same.
bipasha- how about some pics of the front that are lit in the day? (its kinda hard to see what gap is present because the tire and gap are dark)

Bipasha493, I just had mine lowered today via the washers. Do you notice the ride is a little harsher? By the way, I was there when they lowered it and didnt see them drill anything... what's all this talk about dremel?
