New owner in Chicago
I love the car...fun to drive. Dressed it up with a clear bra, radar, lighted sills, bluetooth, tint... looks brilliant!
Now, I want someone to 'teach' me or show me how to tame this beast.... Are there any courses, tracks, riding clubs in Chicago ? I know there is an AMG event in Joliet for a few thousand bucks! That's a bit expensive (especially after my recent purchase).
Thanks for your advice.

The "AMG Challenge" event is $1,195. You will be able to drive the CLS55 at this event. The graduate course is higher but if this is your first time on the track the Challenge event will certainly please you.

Challenge vs 'Northeast meeting'
I probably will go to an AMG Challenge, but any thoughts on the 'Northeast meeting' of AMG owners ? Do you get instruction at the latter ?
Should I just register for the 'Challenge' and call it a day ? Is it worth the $$$. Can a friend register ? (even if they can't drive stick?)
Thanks for your input

Out Of Control!!
I-Doc... I was forwarded along to you to explain the differences... The AMG challenge is an event where you will be taught the limits of your car, and how to handle it. Basically for the 1 day course you get to "beat the bag" out of certain vehicles in the AMG lineup. It is the best way to learn because its not your car thats getting worked so hard. The one con about the AMG challenge is that it books up so fast so you may run in to an availability issue.
The East Coast AMG fest in Jersey is a celebration of everything AMG. It is an event that I put together with another owner, we approached MBUSA and they accepted our proposal for the event. Rob Allan hosted our event last fall on Columbus day. The event was scheduled to be two days but after a thunder storm dumped water on the state for two days it seemed best to cancel our second day of the event which was our track day. This year we moved the scheduling around to have the event in the summer in hopes of avoiding the rain... We WILL have a track event under the eyes of mercedes benz this year. We have teamed up with Porsche club of america, we will be attending an autocross event at the meadowlands arena. While we are not the AMGchallenge you will learn a bit and you will get to test your cars abilities on a closed course with safety personell. We also dont cost $1200 to attend... Lunch and the concourse are paid for by the wonderfull folks of AMG USA and the track day the next day is $40, We have a number of members traveling from california for the event so it is a great event to attend...

Congrats on the new ride. I love that car.
Your screen name reminded me of a doc I know that has a vanity plate that reads "EYESMAN." I am embarrassed for the schmuck every time I see that stupid plate.
If you have a similar plate please disregard my prior statement.

I don't have plates like that...I agree with your comment, a plate can be personalized, but you need to make the viewer 'work' to figure out what it means. It becomes a fun puzzle...
