The new steering wheel looks nice. I'd like to get a nice Alcantara / piano black wood wheel with the paddle shifters for my 2006 CLS55. I don't love the new gauges, the white backlit ones look much better to me. I wish MBZ would get rid of the clock in the gauge cluster and replace with proper fuel and temp gauges -- this would be a good idea for one of the aftermarket tuners.
Since most of these will come with the major option packages, and the base price will likely go up somewhat and discounts will be hard to find for a while... these will probably be quite expensive compared to the 2006 CLS55.

I'm pretty pleased with the new CLS, and I couldn't agree with you more about the pointless clock they have, it should be removed with somthing a little more useful.
