Phone question

One more time.

I have a 2006 CLS55 with the hands-free communication system. I ordered the phone compatible with cingular. It came in and they took the car for the day. The price was initially thought to be $500ish for the phone and $300 for labor.

I pick up the car and I have a bill for $2500!!!! They said that they needed to install the wiring, cradle etc. as well.

Did I really need all of this?

Thank you....

yes, you'll need a cradle, but they suppose to let you know the cost prior to the work. next time, bring it to a car stereo or benz workshop. probably cost half of that.

CLS 55
Hands free phone

I had the same problem, I took my cls 55 to Mercedes of Ft. Lauderdale and they told me it was going to cost 2500.00 for the cradle and wireing. I went to Sound Advice and they referred me to a company called Parrot Bluetooth. Apparently they have developed a bluetoooth integration system that is one of the best on the market...check it out. Let me know your thoughts. I pretty close to saying hell with it and coughing up the 2500.00 Good Luck!!

I don't think the Parrot system will be integrated with the Comand and steering wheel control. The Argo system maybe compatible once is out later this year. If you don't want to spend the money then wait for the Argo bluetooth system because they are promising total integration with the Comand, steering wheel control, phonebook download etc. I went with the Mercedes BT module($350) because I bought my car with the MHI installed($1400).

Didn't you order the hands free communication option from the factory? If so all you needed was the phone which comes with a cradel. I did the same and it cost around $450 for the phone which the dealer just plugged in and there was no labor cost. They did this in 15min while I waited. It is prewired if you originally ordered this option from the factory. If you did order this from the factory, something is very very wrong with your bill.

If you did not order the phone option from the factory, $2500 for everything is a fair price.

The system is expensive, but it works very well and I would not own an MB without it.

Everything about MB seems expensive. I finally got my order in for the 2 piece chrome-effect AMG lighted door sills...$925. I am having them installed at the dealer this week and I expect another $600 charge. Imagine that, over $1,500 for lighted door sills! Makes the phone system with everything it offers seem cheap by comparison.

Sucks to hear about the $2500, but if the car isnt prewired from the factory, there is a lot to do ...not sure if it's $2500 worth of stuff to do, but there is a lot of wiring that has to be done...hope you like your investment now b/c they do work very well.

Since the CLS is not listed it will not help but I used this to install the phone system in my car. After that the dealer should just charge to code it. 2500 is crazy.
