CLS63's

I know some have already been delivered to some members here. While I am not in the current pool looking to get a 63 ... so far 2 e63 owners have had thier cars dyno'd and they are showing around 380 rwhp. This does not corrolate to a 507 hp crank number. I doesn't seem like this is a hot topic on the CLS thread(it sure is on the E63 thread).

Could those of you with a CLS63 have your car dyno'd? I think this would help all perspective buyers as well as current owners.

Best Regards,

Here is my $.02 on the whole 380 rwhp Dyno deal.

Who would you believe, a dyno shop, or a billion dollar company called Mercedes Benz

Obviously these cars are to smart for the dyno guys, each engine is tested before even going into the car. If it doesn' t meet the 1-2% of quoted HP it doesn't get put in the car. Trust me I visited the factory.

I recalled reading an article in one of the car mags, either C&D, R&T or MT, it's about I think Dinan tuning an M3, they use a DynoJet but the HP numbers that came out VARIES a great deal depending on how much air flow is on the car.

First run was without any fan and the HP numbers are way down than expected.

Second run they had a small fan over the radiator and the HP numbers climbed a bit.

Third run they pull out a bigger fan and the HP began to resemble what they claim.

The theory was that the computer is so smart now it can tell whether the car is really travelling at the speed the wheels are spinning to, and if it's not the computer would step in to 'protect' the engine.

One of the catch phase that I remember from the article was how much HP do you want and I will show you the number or something like that.
