Breaking in the engine...Questions

Question: Once the engine is broken in on my '07 CLS 63 AMG, does anyone know if the car will perform better?

The reason why I ask, with my previous cars, ie my Porsche, once broken in...it became quicker and faster...with my BMW it seemed to do more on the top end.

How does it work with Mercedes? ...Especially AMG???

I dont think you have to break in amg engines since they are hand made and tested at full throttle at the factory. Not sure though, anyone else want to chime in?

Yes, once you put in more miles on the 63 engine, the car should perform better. You should see a difference especially when you are dyno-ing your car @ 1000 miles and @ 5000 miles.

I say drive it like you stole it. Dont baby the car, our 63 engines and even 55K engines were meant to be bashed on. Do a burnout and enjoy yourself.

Thats true. The 63/65 engines are meant to be "working hard". Accumulate like 2000 miles and after that WOT!!!!!

thanks for the comments...

Anyone have a guess what the 0-60 and the 1/4 mile will turn out for the CLS 63 AMG once broken in??? Dying to know...Car/engine is so new...can't find any accurate stats yet!

I can tell you that if you break it in hard it will be faster. My CLS55 when I got it, I did a nice little burnout in the parking lot of my dealer, it dyno'ed very well when the boys at Kleemann loaded their K4 package onto it. Stock numbers were much higher than they anticipated.

So, just smash that throttle and let it loose.

Sorry guys I just don't believe a engine is going to perform better after a break in period, it just doesn't make sense to me. Each engine is tested at the factory and must come within 1-2% of quoted HP. Are you guys saying that HP increases? Please explain how this is possible.

The 63 motor seems to be very tight at first, with more miles put on my E63 I can tell its getting more responsive and faster. The blown 55K cars have so much power to begin with (torque, primarily) that you dont notice that difference over time.
