RennTech Stage 4

Hi Guys,
Picked up my CLS 55 from RennTech on Friday. I had headers/ECU/Pulley/Airbox and Toe link (traction) installed.
Pre installation estimate were 90 HP and 110 Ft//lb of Torque.
Dyno'd demonstrated an increase of 63 HP (48RW Gain) and 96 Ft/lb of Torque (87 F).
All said and done 540 HP and 617 Ft/lb of Torque.

With the ECU upgrade dthe super charger now comes on at 1200 RPMs almost idle. (1800 RPMs is stock setting).
Is the car faster? Yes, I raced my neighbor's M5 and was able to pull out from behind him on 95 (Boca) and pass him with both cars wide open.

Here is the down side, the power is now unusable with speeds under 40 MPH. Wheel spin is constant to the point of disappointment.

With that said, I hope to improve my driving skills.
Anyone considering these upgrades must be ready for a slower 1/4 mile due to unusable torque with an upside of a much stronger hit at low to mid highway speeds.

Quaiffe LSD takes longer to install but is supposed to be far superior to any other options. Something worth looking into.

Question. What percentage loss are you using to figure your hp from the rwhp number?

Also why did you choose RennTech over the other companies?

I Chose RennTech because their Corp HQ is here in South Florida and they really know what they are doing.
My warrenty with MB continues when you use RennTech, not the case with some of the other companies (per my dealer).

I caluclated a 19% loss (per RennTech). Do you have any info or know where I can find it on the LSD you mentioned?
Thanks
rob

Call Bob @ Renntech HQ. Tell him that you need an AMG LSD.

Adam, are you referring to the LSD that is part of the 03 package? If so, can that be installed in the 63 (CLS), as a stand alone item? Finally, who will install that here on West coast? Thanks

Right now Renntech is discussing a package option of selling the AMG LSD to 55s and 63s. Let me find out more information and will make a public announcement.

Renntech selling AMG LSDs, don't they offer their own LSD? I am not familiar with whether RT sells a LSD but I know that Kleemann has their own LSD.

Any reputable shop should know of quaife and be able to order you one. Finding a shop to install it may be a little more difficult. I'd look into it though, Saleen S7's come from the factory with quaife lsd's stock.

Although I agree new rims and tires should be done as well, the LSD should be priority number one. Without it the wheel with the LEAST amount of traction ends up getting all the power.
