Extended Warranty yes or no?

Did you opt for the extended warranty?

Is it worth it?

If you plan on keeping your car longer than 4 years or 50,000 miles then yes.......its a no-brainer.

But can't you buy that later on for the same price? I mean if you decide that you're not going to keep the car you mitigate the cost.

Definitely, buy the extended warranty. If you sell your car or trade it in before the factory warranty runs out (4 years) MB will refund the money in full. I paid $2300 for the additional 2 years. It's negotiable. They started off at $3,500.

Interesting, so I guess there is dealer markup in the warranty?

Dealership is also telling me that the extended warranty MUST be purchased along with the star certified vehicle (ie. private sales and once I leave the dealership with the car and I'm not the original owner do not qualify).

Is this true?

Yes crucuial piece of info, extended warranty must be purchased at time of delivery for a CPO car. On a new car you have a while to decide. The first time they popped the warranty question for me was when I took delivery so the business guy told me to think about it and call him first thing in the morning if I changed my mind. He said that it has to be done at time of delivery, but they can input it the next day as a clerical error or something. I would go with it, even if you sell the car it would make it that much more attractive to a private party buying a car with an MB backed warranty.

Oh PS, the warranty prices are NEGOTIABLE, that is a HUGE money maker for dealers, so don't pay MSRP. I paid $1500 for a warranty that listed at $2000.
