Do you think I would take shiit if I claimed to kill a Porsche GT (I have similar HP numbers)? Even if it was a true story, I'd expect to take a beating from our fine board members.

What 1/4 mile times and road course times do is provide an environment that eliminates many of the variables you find on the street and allows you to compare performance more accurately.

So lets face it, a stock E or CLS63 (also 55's) will never run 11.7 @ 121mph like the Porsche. You may win a short street race but that does not make your car faster than his.

BTW, I do love the CLS63 but let's be real.

In the "real world" my world, driving home from work my car was faster at that moment. Once again the only thing I know is it was a porsche turbo and the guy got smoked period. From what you are saying it would be silly to even line up on a track with a vette or a porsche? So here is a final question to you time qouters. If you were at a track in your car and lined up against a superior vehicle "test" wise and you ran a better time , did you not "win" the race?

i.e. both will walk a 63

Love it you compare a 4 door four thousand plus comfortable saloon to a 2 seater fiberglass shell with drag radials. Pound for pound the AMG is FASTER. Lets add a ******* 1500 pound trailer to the turbo porsche or Z06. Jeesus a simple kill story turns into a tireless "whats the fastest car on the track" debate. doooh "if its faster on the track than the cls 63 could not possibly win in a street race"..oh the madness of this logic.

Yes, but that does not make my car faster. Other factors obviously came into play, like tire slippage or driver error.

I have been to the track several times and have been beaten by "lesser cars." I got "killed" by an 06 GTO, with his 12.8 @ 108mph to my 12.9 @ 124mph. Is his car faster? I don't think so. Was he a better driver on that run.....absolutely!!

The bottom line........... if all conditions are equal for both cars................. the Porsche if faster!!

LOL, you won and yes YOUR CAR WAS FASTER during that run, read your time slip. So you are suggesting that if you lost to a guy in a 2 seater porsche turbo (997) by a car legnth he is a better driver or does he just possess a faster car? If all conditions are equal? is there such a thing as this. This is what makes racing so fun is that conditions and odds are not equal. We know the results of your sterile track tests, line em up and if the 63 stays close to a 2 seat fiberglass shell with 505hp than I say victory to AMG. No matter how you guys try to dummy this up it will not change the result obtained on the streets of LA.....Happy Holidays

I give up. You win.

BTW, last time I checked, I think "12.8"(his) is faster than "12.9." (mine). Has something changed since I finished school?

HELLO ? The point of the kill story was NOT..."If all conditions are equal!" It was simply...on that day, Juicee55 won the race...WE DON'T CARE ABOUT THE OTHER RHETORIC!!!! That wasn't part of his kill story and and once again most of us don't care about what the stats are.

Why don't you start a Thread: "If all conditions are equal" ? State all the 0-60s, 1/4m and top speeds---but that is the same thing you'll find in the back of one of the car mags...so repetitious.

Sorry Rock, I was talking about your "hypothetical" vitory over a superior test car..heeeehawwwww. I understand your point but seriously this thread was about a kill story not which car tests faster 0-60 or 0-250 or 1/4 mile or 60 foot times. It was just my relay of an encounter with a porsche that seems impossible to fathom by membership here

Funny your Z06 is lighter and puts out more HP than the 997 yet you lost? Maybe you are not as good of a driver as you think? Yes your car is definately faster than my CLS by a ways but you should really be closer to the porsche, practice more

If you wish to compare how two cars will do on the street with drag timeslip data, you must look at the trap speed, not the QTR time. Your E55 trapped at 124 mph while the GTO trapped its respectable 108 mph. In reality, from a roll, on the highway, the E55 would eat the GTO. I believe that is the point he is trying to make.

Must not have done you that well if you are losing by 2 car lengths to a TT in your Z06. I have a Z06 and a 997 TT will lose given that the driver of the Z06 is good driver. From a roll, the 997 TT wont be close. I have raced a few.

Show me one, JUST ONE, 997 TT that is running 11.5 or better and trapping at 125+ in bone stock trim from the factory. I can show you one (or a dozen) Z06's that have done that, one of them being my car. It took a stage 1 Protomotive 997 TT to match the average trap speeds of a stock Z06.

Anyway, good kill on the Turbo. ANYTHING can happen on the street.

I don't know what the Porsche had, just on the other lane. Could be modded. You don't know me.

Very true and as an all-round everyday supercar there is really nothing out there to beat it imo.

Anyway, whatever the variables in this race, it sounded a good run

nice win that night, but i highly doubt a 55/63 can beat a 997 or ZO6. you simply cannot compare those cars with a cls. if my memory serve me right; we do have 2 extra doors and was build for comfort, which equals to ALOT more weight!

if comparing engine to engine, amg all the way imo...
