Front Plate

I'm thinking of buy a used CLS55 but there are a few out there with front plate assemblies (which I don't want). Are these attached by drilling through the bumper cover? What will I see if I remove the plate assemble? Will I need to get a new bumper cover?

You can get the holes filled in but its a PITA and it will still require repainting of the bumper. I had it noted on the contract for my M5 that there was to be no drilling of holes in the bumper, sometimes dealers just do it on their own.

Keep in mind that the parktronic sensors also have hole like circles on the front bumper. Rather than painting and blending, I wonder if you cold make it look like one of those?

Hi Kevan M. Did you do your own installation of the bumber plugs?

2003 CLK55
I also got Bumper plugs for my front drill holes. they are a little bigger than I would like, but they do the job just fine. They are very easy to put in.....I just had to make the holes a little bigger for the plugs to fit in. I'll try to find a pic after work.
Of course my first choice would have been no drilling in the bumper but my CLK55 came from another dealer and already had the plate bracket on it.

Yes you basically just push them in, if the wholes are two small and the plugs don't fit, just drill the hole a little bigger.
