Netstar report
This may be off topic but this is my home forum sooooo here we go..
How does one get a netstar report on a used Mercedes that one is contemplating buying?
The Carfax report on a used MB was very benign but the netstar was very concerning. The netstar includes many details of the service that were not in the carfax indicating the car WAS a real problem. Nowhere in the Carfax did it mention drive shafts, transfer cases and being towed to the dealership!!!
Anyone know how to get one.

you need to get the VMI from a dealer. most will require the VIN and proof of ownership. If you are in good with your SA it should be no problem if you explain the situation.

Agreed. Talk to a service advisor and explain to him your intention, depend on how you come across to them they will pull it up for your with no problems. I've been succesful with my local MBZ and BMW dealers. Best to come at them when it's not too busy, late mornings or early afternoons are better bets.

So as far as proof of ownership, what if it is a car we are thinking of purchasing but have not purchased yet? Tapdance and sweet talk?

The SA is only supposed to give the VMI to the owner. If your SA likes you and you are a good customer, explain your situation and hope for the best. In stead of asking for a copy of the VMI, I've asked the SA to pull up a VMI describe the contents.
