OEM Replacement Tires

The original Pirelli tires have worn out at 10K rear and 15K front. It seems to me there should be a better option than just replacing with new Pirelli's. The rear tires with only 5K on them look like they need replacing again. Has anyone put on the Bridgestone Potenza REO50A’s? And if so how do they like them?

Try Michelin PS2's

You might try Michelin PS2's. According to Tirerack, the Pole's are ranked #1 for Max performance summer tires with approx. 430,000 survey miles. By contrast, the Michelin PS2's are ranked #2 with approx. 4.2 million survey miles. However, according to most Mercedes and Porsche owners, the PS2's last on the average 20,000 miles and they are better in the wet than the Pole's. In contrast, the survey owners reported from experience on the Tirerack survey that the Pole's have a life expectancy range of 10-15,000 and some replaced their Pole's for the Michelin PS2's. This may be why Mercedes selected the PS2's over the Pirelli's, Dunlap's, and the Pole's as the original equipment tires for the McLaren SLR.

Has anyone tried GoodYear Supercar F1 runflats on their 55? I have them on the Corvette Z06 and like them so far. Don't know how they'd do on the 55 as far as noise, and in general in terms of lasting life... Right now they're at around 6500 miles on the Z06 and look more than hald life left...

I just had to replace my tires. Based on advice from this forum, I was going to get the Michelin PS2s. However I was told Michelin recently stopped production of the size we need for the CLS55, and I ended up having to get the Pirellis . Michelin now only makes all season tires in the size we need.

i had this same concern come up recently. I smoked my tires in 11,000 miles. I always keep my car stock the firsty year adding minute details. I was hoping the stock shoes would of at least last 1 full year.

The guy that came to install my tires said that I had such a rare size 19" that productions are limited. If at all possible he advised on buying 2 sets and keep the spare in the shed.

I went with cheap *** khumos since I intend on getting my new rims by june. tires still took 3 weeks and cost 1100.

I decided to go ahead with the Bridgestone Potenza REO50A’s. I am very happy with them. I would saythey are a smoother ride than the original PZeros's.
